I mean ik what im doing and i like to think of my self as a good teacher.

but I just thought it was funny only after 4 months my boss has enough trust in me to go teach someone. He has guys thats probably been here 2-3 years and he wouldn’t have them go teach someone

Smart boss, training is important. He picks the one that he wants the new guy to work and be like

@Kwikvette, how is the detail on your truck

i may have stumbled upon an amazing product today for the weathered run channel
so far it has returned mine to 'near showroom quality'

no pics of it since it was very overcast today and no sun to do it justice

I mean all i had to do was take off this one. Then put in the new one and show him how tp put it together. But that means pumping down the case and brazing. Which my boss didn’t feel comfortable with the new guy doing on his own.

Case wasnt cooling. Staying at 7°. Wasnt iced up though amd had good airflow. Found the TXV (thermal expansion valve) wasn’t metering like it should be. And on the one one its not rebuild able. Probably the power head was bad or maybe the screen was clogged. So I throw in a new one thats re build able.

I've posted a ton of my cars so I won't muck up the thread with that again; I'll limit the pictures to my C4 that I've owned for almost 15 years now. It's far from stock, and not street legal but still retains the original factory paint -

    2.jpg

    3.jpg

With that being said, my tried and true method is pretty basic -

Hand wash with a quality soap, using the dual bucket method, in the shade.

Dry with a clean chamois; this is especially important as you don't want any residue's spreading all over.

    Clay bar.

Wax with nufinish; once its all hazy, use a clean microfiber to wipe clean

After a week, I'd apply another coat of nufinish, and I'd be good for up to 6 months in dry weather.

    @GQ7227

I know that didn't really answer your question, but it's how I "detail" the exterior of my vehicles.

The Tacoma is the exception to this; I pride in it being filthy. Although when I do go off road, I pressure wash the undercarriage and degrease any necessary components underneath.

My truck has quite a few "flat" spots and multiple dents and dings.

For that reason, it gets an exterior wash maybe once every few months....if I feel like it.

you don't leave your windows open to wash the run channel?
maybe its not as faded and weathered like mine is from probably the sunshine through the tint

    I saw "detail..............show room quality...............etc"

    LOL

I can't tell you about my run channel, and not to sound mean, I don't really care about it on my truck.

Windows remain closed at all times unless they need to be open IE working on my farmer's tan, being outdoors with the truck, etc.
