Copper wire, old rotten switch arm, hot single phase. Good thing it was not summer with the AC running in the homes.

I second this. I've seen some very old power lines in the desert

Yep.. working on several this week. rotten just below the ground or get eaten up by wood packers. Ones we have been working on have been in the ground since at least 1971.

Seen some really old poles in west texas.. 40s era that where better shape. Then what we are working on this week.

If I had to guess, it would.be because they are made from old growth trees and not the new super fast growing trees planted for use in making poles

Went a round with Tri county electric a few years back on rotted poles on my property. I was very surprised at was was there allowable conditions of poles. But they finally sent a engineer to inspect and replaced the complete line of poles.

Happens after a long dry spell, and then a light rain.

The light rain is not enough to wash the dirt and dust off. Instead it is enough to create a path to ground so it tracks over and set the pole top on fire.

Smolders and burns until the arm falls off and phases contact each other or ground and knocks the power out.

That one is going to let the blue light out when that center phase comes down and hits the arm or the line running the other direction

the channels on either side of the windshield. the left side is going from switchpros + power to the 8 pods on the roof, wire is insulated and each light spliced into a small marine grade quick disconnect. the right side is coming from the switchpros panel and power through the engine bay (firewall) to the right side then up the drain channel for the hood through the space in between the windshield and the a-pilar and up into the rack, then through the rack all the way to the back (Sharkfin area). Two rear facing pods with quick disconnects and a harness extension in case I ever put a topper and move the lights further back.

hope that makes sense, i can take some pictures in the morning when there's light.

 Ouch! well I know couple guys that have had Knee replacements and they seemed to bounce back pretty well. I know yours isnt the same but keep up with the physical therapy and That knee motion machine. If you dont you will hurt yourself more by not getting mobility in your knee. Praying for your recovery!

Saw a raven hit a transformer back in the late 90's on base took out power in the building for a few hours.
