Sounds to me like you're not giving it gas when shifting. Like the engine is lurching at the same the synchro is working. Give it a little throttle and feel it out.

There is some kind of anti-stall fuckery at work here. I think the computer is compensating for what it feels is too much load when taking off by increasing the throttle slightly. That's why it';s jerky sometimes. Try this: Find a parking lot, put the truck in first with the clutch depressed and the engine idling. Slowly release the clutch without touching the throttle. Watch the tach as you do this. You'll see the rpm climb above what it was at idle.

I've taken off a couple times with no throttle. Just go real slow with the clutch, it does bump the rpms for you.

Don't try on an incline, still does the noob jerk.

I know what you mean. Older MT vehicles didn't need the finess this trucks sometimes wants.

Drive by wire, emissions, mpg. I'm not sure if the computer logic can really be changed that drastically?

You might be right. The developer who wrote the code for the ecu most likely literally has no MT experience. This is the first MT truck I've owned. But I've owned and driven quite a few never drive by wire MT vehicles, the tacoma just isn't refined.

I will have to disagree though.. The older MT trucks I've test driven were gutless dogs.. Sure easy and fun to shift, but I'll take this rev happy powerful 3.5 any day!

I know you didn't. I was just disagreeing with you to have this newer platform over the ease of old tech. This truck really isn't that "techy" one main reason I like it. For what it's worth... She runs better the hotter the engine /trans gets, and the more you put your foot in it.

    Your exclusivity is intact.

Upon somewhat closer inspection, the Voodoo blue DCSB is saw from a distance is actually a 2020 OR. Don't even have to look inside to know it's not a manual.

I would probably have a OR if they made it in DCSB with MT tho, sad Canadian life :(

So I have a MT that I've been running 93 Octane tune for a while now. Just now seeing things about a FOB for all octanes? What exactly does FOB mean, and what are the benefits? Should I reflash my truck to 93 FOB? Why or why not?

Scroll down just a bit here:
    https://www.ovtuned.com/pages/flash-manager

FOB is Full Otto 1.05B. Basically just like the FOB Beta that the ATs just got, OVT cranked out most the Atkinson BS. So, you have 4.0l-like torque right off idle.

For me even on 87, it feels like I would expect a normal V6 should.

So @tonered, you would say it's a considerable change and I should definitely flash it ASAP!

Try it out. All the 1.05 and 2.0 Beta tunes have a unique feel to them. Put a couple tanks on any that seem interesting to you and see what you think.

I was on the 2.0 Betas for a long time and enjoyed them. I went back to 87 FOB for a test and am just happy there. I can't wait for our turn at 2.0 FOB.

I'm mostly stock other than 265/70R17 SL Wildpeaks and a Softopper.

I'm lifted with 17in TRD Pro Wheels and 285/70R17 General Grabbers. Other than that, I really don't have any extra weight. Tonneau and all stock bumpers.

FOB is called the fat kid tune for a reason. From what folks say around here, a lift and larger tires pretty much eats up FOB. But, the stock folks (skinny kids) love it also and report MPG bumps.

As opposed to the States, where an OR dcsb does come with a manual (sport too) but no OR Ac Mt. Boo.

It is hilarious how Toyota seems to have either confused the market or that there is a real need for both configs in both countries. I really like my Sport but I would have liked the opportunity to grab an ACLB MT OR.
