this may come as a shock to you but some people use shelves for things OTHER than truck parts just to collect dust.

    A thing or two...
I think I've found the first thing that I want to upgrade in the new house. The draw slides in the kitchen are annoying me because the draws can shift a bit side-to-side and bind/drag until you wiggle it around to recenter it. Is it just a matter of finding new slides and replacing the old slides? Or am I missing something, and it's more involved?

Would I just need to measure the difference in drawer opening vs the drawer to get the needed slider thickness, and the length of the drawer for the slider length?

Here are a couple of pictures of the current drawer slides.

If you have 1/2" on either side of the drawer you can install standard drawer glides. Most likely you'll need 21"

Without seeing the entire thing, I would recommend extending the back patio to the corner of the house, maybe even beyond, and adding an outdoor fireplace. Extending your outdoor living space is awesome!

That’s the intent for the patio. Wanted to cover to the corner or thereabouts. Extend concrete about 18” past the edge of the patio cover roof and add a concrete walkway to the front.

concrete walkway may be a lot of time money. Have you considered other options, like a pathway using flagstone (or a cheaper option)? Personally, I always thought those looked really nice when going through a yard, but I also have a corner lot with a sidewalk, so I would not want more sidewalk.

This is the empitome of the cash cow that is the "design and decoration" market and the death of utility and intended function. Behold the entry bench. I had no idea pillows could get this exhausted.

It’s going down the side of my house, outside of the backyard. Figure if they’re gonna finish that weird L shaped patio they may as well do a pathway too.

It probably depends on how far of a span that 1/4" variance is (1' vs 10') and the size of the tile (large format vs small tile). If the variance is across more than a couple feet (like 5' or so) and you are using large tile (i.e. with both sides at least 12", like a 12" square or 12"x24"), I wouldn't worry about it. But then again, I'm no expert and have only tiled one floor and one shower so far. Also, I recommend using a tile leveling system to prevent lippage.

Electrical question, If you put a new sub panel in--is it grounded to the outside ground or just the main panel?

I’m no electrician but I think you need ground rods if the sub panel is on a detached building.
Please consult an electrician lol hopefully one will chime in
If it’s grounded to the main panel it should be automatically tied to the outside ground through the panel right?

    Check local code
I installed a sub panel in a shed 60’ from the house, no ground rod (per the electrician) required, just at the main panel.

I have a sub panel in my house that I just remodeled and it did not need a separate ground rod since it was tied into the main. The garage I built that is detached didn’t need one either. This is just my local code in CA, I’m sure it’s the same there if they’re using the IBC or IEC books

Per the National electrical code which is what the local jurisdiction will expand upon you are required a ground rod for a detached panel
