By the looks of it, any extension or socket would hit lip of the head itself. A wrench with an extension should do you solid

Also spark plug removal is likely to aid in making it easy to turn the motor over, I was going to try it without removing spark plugs first.

Looks like parts numbers for gaskets are

    • Right (passenger) Valve cover gasket - 11213-AD010
    • Left (driver) Valve cover gasket - 11214-AD010
    • Surge tank (upper intake) to lower intake plenum gasket - 17176-0P030

Things one might consider replacing while in there.

Doesnt look like there is a part number just for the throttle body gasket not that it would be needed or hard to replace.

I might even take the time to check valve clearances while i have her opened up.

The PCV valve is a stupid simple part. You can just clean it

Has anyone with a 2012+ done this that has the SAIS on their v6? If im not mistaken the SAIS valves are bolted to the passenger valve cover, how much disassembly is needed there?

I did it on my 2014. You do have to take some of the SAI off, but it's not hard. Totally doable. Also, a crows foot makes life super easy when you're trying to get the cam bolt off.

thats what i figured, nothing but a few more non critical nuts n bolts.

I was thinking id grab some Flare Nut crows feet so that there is more engagement with the bolt head itself vs open end crows feet.

I had a Harbor Freight flare nut wrench break once. It woulda been a pain if the broken piece fell down into a cam chain tunnel.

Just stick a piece of pipe over a regular 6pt socket wrench.

Id probably do that to get it off (but with a wrench - dont think youd be able to get a socket and ratchet in there)

Its more for torquing it down properly on reassembly.

    It's DLX son!
I exploded my HF 17mm crows foot trying to get the cam bolt off. Was very glad I stuffed paper towels in the timing chain area and it caught the broken piece.

For tightening, I went as tight as I freaking could, because it took all I had to get them loose in the first place
