haha where would you put yourself ability-wise? Most of the stuff up on Wilson is black/advanced. Makes for a great adventure.

I'm okay I'd say. Nothing to write home about. Just out there to have a good time.

    This is my sled.

Nice bike, I like Intense. As you can tell. lol

If you can handle technical trails, with rock gardens, and don't get sketched out by narrow trail with a lot of exposure, you can probably handle Mt Wilson.

Here's a good video that shows most of the trail:

I'd love to get up there sometime soon.

Thanks dude...Looks like a party, I like Technical trails with rock gardens and sketching myself out with potentially flying off cliffs. :bikewhoops::bananadead:

you know it was a good time when you get back to the trailhead and remember “I almost fell 100 feet down the mountain and made a noise resembling a 13 year old girl seeing her favorite boy band in concert because I was scared to shit”

My winter project finally came in. I celebrated by quickly tossing on a Fox 36 Float fork and a RockShox Reverb dropper. :D

Does anyone ride a Specialized “Chisel” ? I was considering taking my Santa Cruz Chameleon frame and Fox shocks and having my local bike shop build me a bike but for the price I can just buy a Chisel that’s a year old.

Is there a guide someone could recommend for someone shopping for their first mountain bike? I didn't see anything on the first post here.

    Thanks!

I was in the market for my first mtb. My local bike shop recommend me a trek Roscoe 7, got it out the door for $1,250. Not the price I would like to pay for a hardtail but it is what it is haha. The 27.5 plus tires feels nice for a hardtail. At least from my experience.

There we go. "Rigid, 1/2 squishy or full squish" into a google search and I found forum posts online I can read through and begin reading up. I didn't really know about that terminology. Thanks!
Awesome, I'll take note on that model and begin searching around and reading. Thanks!

More commonly known as full suspension or hardtail. I'm in East Tennessee and we share the same mountains as you in North Georgia. For your first rides I would recommend a hardtail which does not have a shock in the rear. Typically a beginner hardtail has better geometry and serves as a better value. Then as you progress you will wander into the world of full suspension. Stay away from cheap full suspension bikes.

And remember; More $ does not necessarily a better bike for your purpose.

Sweet bike. Could probably shave a few grams and gain a lot of clearance with just a chain tensioner instead of derailleur

Thank you, its my pride and joy.
Tensioners don't have any lateral movement or flexibility so they tend to snap under full compression. I also race on this bike so I need them gears!
