    Just one side of the TRD Pro headlights are on back order for a couple more weeks. I spoke with McGeorge Toyota today. The OR headlights (both sides) are available.

    The only thing stopping me from getting some pro LED headlights (besides the cost, of course :p) is that they apparently don’t get hot enough to melt snow and ice.

    Anyone care to chime in on that?

    That's only 13 days. A harness won't be available in 13 days unfortunately.

    My understanding was it’s a different wiring harness between the led headlights and standard halogen even on the 2020s. So a 2020 halogen couldn’t add leds as plug and play without an adapter like it’s being discussed for the 16-19s. Can anyone clarify? I had a salesmen say confidently that they dealer could add leds to any 2020 Tacoma I wanted but looking at the conversions everyone is working on here, my confidence that a dealer tech could make a nice one is nil.

    Incorrect information from the salesman (typical). They use different headlamp wiring harnesses from the factory.

    Sorry, The LED lights I was referring to was the fog lights, that come with the LED option on the 2020s. Those are plug and play on older models, however the headlights will need an adapter to convert them on the 16-19 models.

    It's possible the salesman was thinking about basic LED bulbs in the stock halogen housing, which is a common dealer upgrade. (Mine truck was a dealer trade and came with $20 Chinese LED headlight bulbs installed by the original dealer.)

    Thanks. Long time lurker from when I had a 2002 Tacoma. That one got sold when I finished school and had a 70 mile commute daily. Now my commute is back to 6 miles daily so the gas efficient Mazda has to go and the Tacoma can come back haha

    Possibly. He was trying to get me to pull the trigger on one with led headlights and the dual zone climate/premium navigation package vs installing the oem leds saying that the parts (headlights plus bezels plus led fogs) and dealer install, the price difference would probably be negligible. I think that nav package is like 2000 so that better not be the price for led bulbs only... although it is a dealership so who knows.

    You might want to wait ‘til Jan-Feb for that standalone LG package to show up at the dealers’ lots. Right now, most of them would say that the only way they can build you a truck is if you’re willing to bundle it with the premium audio OR premium leather+moonroof, which can add anywhere btw $2500-4000 on top of your base model pricing. LED headlamps should only be $432 on your invoice.

    Halogen gives off way more heat so the LED will not melt the snow on the headlights the same way.

    You figure three months for the less profitable, more simply optioned ones to finally trickle down? That’s going to be a long wait. Or time to order.

    @TRDProOne
    Also should be compatible with the 2020s without leds, correct?
