Baseball's owners voted to make a major rule change beginning in the 2020 MLB season, requiring pitchers to either face a minimum of three batters or complete a half-inning, a switch pushed by commissioner Rob Manfred with an eye toward quickening the pace of play and shortening the length of games by reducing the number of in-game pitching changes.

 

Bottom of the 7th with 2 outs. Runners on 2nd and 3rd. The manager makes a pitching change, and the new pitcher gets the out. The half inning has been completed. A new pitcher can start the 8th.

 

I really wish they'd quit fucking with the game. It's fine. I don't give a crap if the game takes four hours, or only two. It's baseball. That's the beauty. There's no time limit. Or, at least, there didn't used to be.

 

I believe a half inning is three outs by a team. A full inning is three outs by both teams.
