I forget where you're heading after Nashville but if you head towards Cincinnati and need a place to stay or wrench let me know. There's a few other active members in the area too that would gladly lend a hand.

I don’t think so. I got that fixed up and changed the diff fluid then put like 5000k on it since then. Everything was quiet and working great and then bang! It just shit the bed on the highway.

I wouldn't drive on it without pulling the ring gear.

You could have chunks of gears in there, or knowing ECGS - backed out ring gear bolts, and you risk much more damage and potentially locking it up driving on it. Could result in a dangerous situation.

    Safe travels and awesome thread!

So far so good guys! Thanks again for all the offers to help and places to stay. We got 650 miles left and we are going for it tonight! The pup and girlfriend are in and out of consciousness so it’s just me and the sound of clunky marbles

You are correct but I’m not in a position to yank the ring gear at the moment lol. Pretty sure there’s not a single tooth left on that ring gear

It was leaking diff fluid when that axle seal and bearing failed.. but I kept it topped off so the gears were never without oil.

Dude. What?? Pulling the ring gear is more than 50% of the actual repair. You advising to do all that and then put it back with no ring gear?
    Old or new oil? lol

Technically that is what you should do to eliminate the possibility of the diff locking up. If it wasn’t dark and pouring rain I could prolly get it out and back together in an hour or so but I really don’t feel like it lol. I’m keeping it at 55mph and both hands on the wheel. If it locks up then I will have to pull the gears out. Iv got about 500 miles left. Fingers crossed
