It’s to be expected, I mean it is a Tacoma forum :D but oddly does seem to devote a lot of time to the competition o_O

Was that the old Suzuki crawling up the hill? Here is the replacement that we will not see over here.

Not certain what the Ranger raptor will have in it, but they are running around Australia right now and are going to be available here. I can't imagine what it is going to cost. $60K?

I'm expecting the valve train to eventually break, but my 3.5 Ecoboost van will smoke my Tacoma and deliver about the same MPG. Even though it is as aerodynamic as a city bus the turbos give it a ton of torque down low and even though it is a, way over driven 6 speed auto, similar to the Tacoma the thing almost never down shifts. In September I was at Bonneville Salt Flats and ran 111 (running two GPSs to verify speed) with about 1,500 lbs of gear on board. I'm completely good with the HP of the Tacoma, in fact I could live with 50HP less....I need 50 more ft. lbs of torque and a much flatter torque curve.

Yep, that’s my only complaint, there just isn’t enough bottom end torque. The torque hits at higher RPM’s, but the transmission never lets you get there.

    Frustrating, to say the least.

I want the new Jimny so bad but alas I live in America. It’s such an incredibly well built, capable, and priced vehicle, it would be perfect for my weekend warrior and midweek shenanigan needs

Guess I made the right choice....Although I was considering a Tundra not a Colorado and especially not a Ranger...

where you have to drop the transmission

I drive a 2019 Colorado every day, it’s my fleet vehicle at work.
Hands down the worst vehicle I’ve ever had the displeasure of driving for over a year. I’ve put 22k miles on it in just over one year, we bought it new from the dealership. It’s been back to the dealership three times for transmission failure (on its third new transmission replacement) and multiple random inexcusable things like sensors and actuators and valves. Countless trim pieces have come off and needed gluing. Door overextension stop straps have come off almost weekly and I’ve had to threadlock and really crank them down. Engine got really pissy at about 5k miles and wouldn’t rev above 2,000rpm or shift out of first. Come to find out a teaspoon of water leaked in through the not so well designed fuel door that doesn’t have a traditional twist cap but instead uses a tension flap. Water in the gas made it all angry and a bottle of HEET later it cleared things up.

This stupid truck has been nothing but a horror story and really solidified my disdain for Chevrolet. Just a lot of quality control and engineering issues right now. Gone are the few good years when the impala or the Silverado were synonymous with reliability and American quality.

so here I sit in my Tacoma. Same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Reliable.

My wife had a 2002 Impala when we got married. The car was 2 1/2 years old and had 60K miles when the transmission started acting up. Dipstick was covered with metal filings, I urged her to trade it for a Honda or Toyota, she got a Corolla and has been in a Honda or Toyota ever since. No problems with any of them.

I’ve driven and been around my fair share of fleet vehicles and I wouldn’t hold a fleet drivers opinion of a vehicle against said vehicle. I’ve seen the living sh!t beat out of some trucks/vans all the while the driver who had it from new can only claim what a pos.

Kubota is also buying Subaru's small engines and putting them in their new (for 2019) gas powered 850 Sidekick UTV. According to Kubota, they will completely own the tooling and manufacturing process for this class of gas engines in the next year. Subaru is a great partner for anyone--especially Toyota--as long as the government stays out of the picture.

I would argue the opposite. A vehicle that endures all that abuse and keeps ticking on a level most would still consider a good car speaks volumes to its quality. Just look at the Crown Vic.
