I think that the arrival of cooler weather has caused these winged bastards to either die off or go into hibernation...

I’ve only killed like fifty total in the last few days!

The best time to kill them before they hatch is May-October.

Scraping the egg masses off the trees over the winter makes a HUGE difference. We saw significantly less on our property this year after thoroughly inspecting all of our trees for eggs as high as we could reach last winter. My wife even took a stepladder to several local parks to scrape eggs off the trees there as well. They seem to like young maple trees best.

An old credit card works great for scraping off the egg masses. Scrape them into a ziplock bag for disposal and throw a little rubbing alcohol in there to make sure they'll never hatch.

Probably gonna do this, but it's so much fun going out in the wooded area behind my parents' house and going "full mercenary" on the little winged bastards! I am almost going to regret getting rid of the egg masses!

True, stomping them is definitely satisfying.

It would seem that Lanternfly Season has ended for the year...

    :(

I haven’t seen any squishes on the leaderboard for days, so it would appear that all of the winged bastards have either died off or gone into hibernation. I will be on the lookout for egg masses for the next several months though!

Also, it would appear as though my kill log is overlapping, as only kills from late October onward appear on the map (I’ve been using the SQUISHR app since September).

Somebody managed to kill 21 today; I’m guessing they’re in a warmer area...?

Last month, someone took a picture of their foot and posted it as a squish... o_O

I cannot wait until these little bastards come back; Killing them will pass the time during the coronavirus pandemic!
