Yes they are. I’ve witnessed someone climb through the windoor to grab snacks out the fridge. But he’s a ninja, so YMMV :spy:

I have a long bed and use the standard windoors to reach things in all corners of the bed. I also have no issue loading large north face duffel bags through them.

My cheap ass goes through the standard windoor all the time. I can reach into the cabinets along that same wall or climb the tire and stick my torso in there to access the fridge along the opposite wall

I wanna be teased with a glimpse of whatever the boys are thinking of doing to help cover the front of the camper. Is it just a wind fairing, how many cross bars, if any, or whatever it may be?

I've been thinking for a while what I could do with the room I'll have left over my cab when I pick up my drifter.

@Overlanerd, @Iggy, would you guys mind stating exactly what model Fantastic Fan you install on these? ...Or if it's not a direct off-the-shelf model, what the required specs/modifications are? (Mine was in the first batch, if it makes a difference.)

I finally put some Deavers in the rear, and I'm maybe 1" too tall to get in the garage.
Lowering the profile of the fan is my only (practical) option to fit, so I'm trying to figure out what all my options are.

    Thanks!

I agree that definitely seems like the closest in specs.
Though I thought maybe I remembered Phil saying that there was something custom about it, and I get the impression that Dometic is fairly flexible about doing stuff like that.

I think it'd be cool to have a post that has pictures of all the completed Vagabonds from people on TW. I'd be willing to put it together if people sent me a photo of their rig?

Just an idea as I'm sitting in a 3 hour lecture about nothing.

I’m planning to put a prinsu habitat with mounts for shovel, axe, maxtrax, etc. I’ve also been thinking about mounting a solar panel there.

Agreed, been thinking about this too but figured that would be something I can do once I actually have it and know exact measurements. I know I saw someone craft a sweet custom one on here before to fill that space. Might have been @jberry813?? There is definitely usable area left on 2nd & 3rd Gen over the cab from what I have seen. Alucab makes some cool enclosed storage racks/boxes but of course they are pricey and not sure currently if they will fit.

    Good to know. Thank you.

Anyone else with the standard windoor and wish they have gone with the larger frontrunner windoor? Or maybe Frontrunner windoor option is overkill on a short bed Tacoma? Want to avoid any regrets after I submit my final options.

According to Phil, it is a custom fan as they use a low profile base and a flat lid which keeps it about as low profile as possible.

Frontrunners weren't an option at the time of my build.
I probably would not have considered them at the time if they were, but if I did it again now, I would at least give them some serious thought.

Having said that, I'm not disappointed in the standard windoor, and don't have any particular complaints. But I do think the Frontrunners are worth a closer look.

Thanks, this is what I'm really wondering about.
I've been looking for the low profile base as a standalone part, and it doesnt seem to be available anymore.
I found another custom offering online that is quoted at 2.5" above the roof closed, which appears to be less height than where mine is sitting. But the height of mine also doesn't seem to match the quoted heights of other base/lid combinations, so it's causing me to question whether this other custom offering would really be any improvement...

    Check out the build
From what I recall it was a special configuration available to OEMs. It had to do do with the low profile lid. There is a fan that sits lower, but it sticks into the camper a bit and requires a spacer.

We switched to Maxxair fans though.

I assume the Maxxair fans have the same features (3 speed plus suck or blow) right?
