I’m guessing it was bleached and salt washed

No bleach or paint at all. Oxiclean and volume 40 hydrogen peroxide.

Very old method of treating bones after bleaching. You boil the bones in salt water and cure them in a sack of salt.

Sorry, I should have clarified. Peeled it first, then boil it. Boiling it will loosen most of the meat and you can pressure wash alot of it off. This time I just boiled it and pulled the meat off instead to make sure I didn't blow out the nasal cavity. Once you get a decent amount off, boil it in Oxiclean (removes oils from skull) and the peroxide (whitens).

ah I tried that on one skull and pretty much messed it up. What was your ratio of oxyclean to water and how long did you simmer/boil?

1 cup oxiclean to about 5 gallons of water, 15-20 minutes at a time, then I'd pull it out and peel meat off. Then dump all of the water out (the amount of oil that comes out initially is incredible). Restart again with 1 cup Oxiclean-5 gallons of water. Repeat until all meat is off. If the water gets too hot, it'll begin to damage the skull.

I'm pretty sure this is how Werewolves are made....or Wereyotes maybe

That would suck, to be turned into a half man/half coyote instead of a Werewolf

I am a hunter myself so don't shit storm me too bad. As a hunter that has taken an animal's life, I believe we have a duty to that animal to at least try to use the animal as much as we can. That being said, I would probably still try to salvage something out of it.

This would also be the "ethical" thing to do, even if you didn't end up "using" it.

Also, that coyote did a pretty good job on that rib meat! My experience with coyotes has been that they usually start at the butt and work toward the entrails. Interesting that it chose to start at that spot.

I thought so too when I first saw it. My coworkers dear that he recovered the next day was 1/2 eaten butthole first. I never got close enough to see where the entry/exit wounds were, but I wonder if that's where he started.
