    Hey, Folks.

I found the attached TSB while looking around at ntsha.gov. It is the ECU flashing instructions from Toyota. It is all very similar to the 1st Post, but still good info.

@Ruggybuggy . Maybe you could add this to the OP?

I just left the dealership where I asked to get this done. They were friendly but unhelpful. They claimed that Techstream wouldn’t allow them to do the update. He said he pushed the button, but it didn’t work.

looks like I’ll be doing this myself. I’m familiar with Techstream. I’ve been tweaking the settings on every Toyota I own since 2010.

    The place wreaked of incompetence.

The service staff were cracking up over a phone call where they gave a guy wrong information about his truck. Then I was eyeing the Supra and the gal in sales didn’t know a single thing about it... even simple things like the fact that the motor is BMW.

I like that 'cannot read software version in ECU' part. Utter BS.

I mean, if Carista can do it . . .

BTW, on the leaf springs. Jack one side on the frame just in front of the leaf. From there you can separate each leaf with very little effort. Spray the pads with a dry film lubricant. No need to pull the wheel. It takes no time.

Do you have to request the latest flash update TSB-0125-18 from the dealership or will they do the update just by plugging in?

You gotta have a very friendly dealer from the sounds of it. There was a map here somewhere where folks put pins in to show dealers that would do it.

As @Ruggybuggy said, the update will show up as available if your dealer does a Health Check in TS.

It's stupid they would be better off having you sign a waiver and go to it. Most people who are asking are pretty informed on whats going on because it's not easy information to get your hands on and dig into.

What's the deal, why don't they want to install it?

Agreed. They shouldn't even be questioning it given the screwed up roll out. They should want word on the street that they are fixing the biggest complaint without hassle.

    Oh well.

I would argue that there is just as much liability in not doing is since it's there to repair a defective element of the operation of the Tacoma.

Probably more trouble than its worth for them in terms of money. They miss the big picture and It would go further if they looked at it like a relationship building thing for future work with the customer.

The worst part is when I took it in I was getting the KOB recall and squeaky clutch pedal TSB done so it's not like I took up a precious appointment slot just for a mere ECU software upgrade.
