    looks cool, but curious. What exactly is the point? What would you be doing to need to keep a very small continuous charge to the battery? Just in case of a parasitic draw? To keep the radio playing? Honest question. A dual battery setup seems like better idea for less money

    These items for sure, but, I am interested in it for the charge voltage. The Tacoma alternator does not put out a high enough voltage to sufficiently top off AGM batteries. (this is the word on the street. I have no direct evidence to support or refute it). But if this could keep the batteries topped off to a sufficient voltage to increase the longevity of the batteries, that would be significant to me.

    Do you mean the loss of energy from the panel to the powered item, or the in ability to capture energy from the suns rays?

    You don’t power a light with the panel. You use the panel to charge a battery to power things. I run a 190W panel on my roof that charges a 50AH LiFePO4 battery that I use to run my Dometic fridge and a couple 12v ports for charging my laptop and camera gear.

    That's the cost of the batteries in a dual battery system. So, 1 extra cost of $600 to make the batteries last longer? maybe it stretches the life span enough to hold of purchasing 1 or two set of batteries over the ownership time of the vehicle? Does it all wash out? Maybe, who knows. My truck has become my money pit, maybe this gets added to the list...I am not ruling it out at this point and will be paying attention for more details.

    Paying $600 for a 90W panel and charge controller is insane. You can grab a hard frame panel for a dollar a watt and a charge controller is $100.

    Edit: the shitty MPPT controller that comes with it does not make up the difference either.

    again, just following along for more details at this point. A lower cost would be wonderful. I like how this blends in and is always there out of the way. A hard frame would require mounting solutions and or install / removal repetitions.
