Was out at the shop today working off some of my debt by building some first gen taco arms...

I can't leave anything well enough alone
I love the innovation and creativity of this project. I need to re-read all the details and get another once over of the project/process. I don't think I am interested in doing the same thing even if it was a kit. But, I do find myself wishing there was a pre-fabbed kit to relocate the LCA tabs forward about an inch. Something that indexes on the frame correctly for location, where you cut off the existing LCA mounts, weld the new sub-assembly to the frame, and install LCA again using the same bolts and adjusters. could utilize TC tab reinforcements or the kit could have something like that already integrated. But then the LCA could be run in the "middle" of the adjustment range and still the wheel would be pushed forward a lot. And with SPC UCA adjusted all the way forward on the ball-joint caster adjustment - you might get away with good caster, wheel forward in the arch and less rub with 35s. Has anyone heard of something like this?

I am interested in going to a 35x11.5, willing to trim fenders, fold pinch weld, and CMT, but not so hot on sledge hammering or cutting the wheel wells. Already have LCA adjusted all the way forward and have good alignment with SPC uppers with my 285/75/16's. But having some big-tire-itis and wanting to move to larger diameter and 17" wheels.

Hoping someone has heard of the 'basic' LCA relocate system and it is something that exists. While I do like what the OP did, I am not interested in uni-ball uppers or changing my bumper/skid plate system.

The kit I have on my truck does exactly what you are after. Because the lower arm is pushed forward you don’t have to change the caster in the upper arm to correct the geometry. It’s a very simple install, simply cut off the stock tabs, bolt the new stuff into place with the locating mounts and weld the new tabs to the frame. The lower arms sit right in the middle of the adjustment range and there is zero side load on the bushings.

You can run this setup with whatever bumper you want as the lower section is a separate piece.

    $899 and you are dialed!

That price included the custom high clearance skid plate underneath the diff and the custom, locking laser cut alignment along with all hardware

Not exactly. And 3rd gen Lcas are different as well. One of the eyes (I think it’s the rear one) uses a larger diameter bolt/cam

edit: not sure if that’d affect all this

Well then I’m sure they would work out a deal with a third gen owner to get the kit dialed for them as well

I figured as much. Just didn’t want them to mail them out a kit and mid install get a nice surprise of it not working haha

Beautiful work, I’m curious with the front skid plate any plans to fabricate another matching 2 behind it?

Thank you... and I might, not sure if it’s really necessary for this truck. This truck won’t see a ton of rocks since I have the linked, flat bottom straight axle for that

Understood that’s the only thing that concerned me personally. I do hit rocks quite frequent on my DD though.:anonymous:

You very easily could weld tabs to the back of the crossmember I have and keep the party going rearward
