The Toyota install instructions mention this "conflicts" with the bed lights...I'm not entirely sure how it would or if anyone knows the ansy...Also has anyone tried installing this on a 2016+? Again the instructions mention for a 2019+

I am trying to go oem rather than aftermarket if possible

Same here. I recently ordered this exact OEM kit for my 2020 although I haven't yet installed it. Looking over the contents, it looks like an OEM wiring harness going from the cab to the bed. I mean, it has all the OEM connectors, a shielded wiring harness, a cab seal, etc.

You mention install instructions. Did yours come with those? My kit only included a basic one page "user manual" and the only install instructions I have been able to find online are for the typical "pop & lock" installs which this clearly isn't. Would you mind sharing those over or pointing me to where I can find them? I'm holding off installing mine until I can track down some better OEM instructions. If I can figure out what they mean by "conflicts" looking at my 2020, I'm happy to share that answer.

I do know the bed lights are different on the 2020 models than the 2016-2019, so maybe that is something to do with it?

I wonder if the bed lighting wiring is already included in the stock 2020 harness, but not in this one. Seems like they could have both. Do you have any photos of this kit?

Actually, I have read in another thread here that the 2020 are pre-wired for the bed lighting, unlike the previous year models. So that may be an issue. I can take close up photos of the kit later. Now I am wondering if this is even the correct kit for my 2020.

somewhere around here I have pics of my (port) installed (2018) bed lights and tailgate lock as done by GST. Not sure if the "kit" got upgraded for 2019 or not.

Not the best photos since I don't want to open the two sealed bags in case I need to return this. But this is the kit.

The kit includes 4 bags of parts:

Wow, that's cool. Do you know the part number for the double cab long bed?

Thanks man. I did track down those photos and bookmarked in case I need them for reference. That OEM install definitely looks different to what is in this kit so I guess they must have changed things at some point. My only hold up at this point is trying to work out if this new kit interferes with the new bed lighting wiring on the 2020 because I do want to add that as well.

Sorry, I don't have the part for the long bed. I purchased this new kit from Olathe Toyota parts dept and they said they pulled the kit based off my 2020 VIN. It seems like it is the correct part, but hopefully some of the guys here a lot smarter with this stuff than I am can help me work this out. :) The bed light kit and/or wiring is definitely different on the 2020s so I'm trying to work out how that fits into the picture.

Whenever you find the incompatibility, please, let us know. I'm guessing the harness routing and floor plug...

So I have a 2017 without bed lights; I'm thinking the oem tailgate harness has connectors on each end (one to plug into the port in the truck and then another to attach back to the factory harness)...this way we avoid having to splice into the factory harness in order to tap into the passenger side locking system (that's where we get the two button command to unlock the tailgate)...

how many connectors are on the harness for inside the cab do you think? I ordered mine from sparks parts and it's enroute as we speak. I'm hoping my theory makes sense because I wanted to get away from splicing the factory wires but still stay oem...I

After reading...The kit adds a harness to the tailgate for the locking solenoid. You use the same exit as the camera harness, they provide a edge protector (dual) on the tailgate and the bed side. So when you remove the tailgate you can remove both harnesses. The inside cab connector is indeed a Y, it even has a an inline fuse for the added locking solenoid.

Try sparks parts you can text them and ask the question (that's how I got the part number and instructions) they usually get back same day (during normal biz hours).

Great! So at first glance it seems it may work for any 3rd Gen (hopefully)....

caribe makaira do you have experience putting this on a '16-'18?

Awesome. Thanks so much. That is definitely the instructions for the kit I have on hand. I am still interested in what the "conflicts with bed lighting kit" means in these instructions.

On your 2020, look and see if that hole under the passenger seat is already used. If they use that grommet for the 2020+ bed light wiring. That may be the reason for the conflict.
