Archery Talk

Seen a lot of deer today and lots of buck activity. Pulled camera cards and have a few new deer. Cameras are on video mode and are showing lots of chasing even some big ones.

 

Going out around noon today .Rain changing to snow on the way . Just a coating to an inch . Calling for windy tomorrow. I hate the wind . I rely on my ears a lot since my eyes are not that great . I like hunting in the morning more than afternoon because I have to get out of my stand as dusk approaches because I can’t see squat with these F’ed up retinas of mine . I miss out on at least the last half hour of shooting light So I’m changing it up today

Wish I could hunt today than yesterday. Was way too hot hunting yesterday

Any of y’all had to board head tune with expandable a I’m shoot nap spot fires my board head are perfect but the field points are off at distance. Should I just leave it

 

Well just as things were starting to heat up at home my buddy and his son and I decided to take a 3 day hunting trip to hunt with a friend of ours. We’re hunting a landfill with 1000 acres, this way we can give our farms a break. Bout 2 1/2 hours from us.

 

By law I have to have orange on in this public land unit.... kept it legal

 

3.5 hours in that cold rain ......... not even a squirrel. Pulled cards from 2 cameras and one has an error code threw it in the garbage

 

So I will try again in the morning! 25 degrees at 7am with an 8 mph wind

 

I always hate when I pull a card and for one reason or another the camera didn’t work

 

Several years ago I had a caterpillar make a cocoon over the sensor. Little bastard tripped like 2000 photos.

 

We seen a bunch of deer tonight but no giants. Got a text from a friend who said he watched 8 coyotes attack and kill 2 button bucks. WTF!!!

 

time for some coyote hunting/killing....

 

Almost made it to my favorite spot. Seems as though it rained more than I accounted for. There's a tiny ditch I have to cross, well, it wasn't tiny today. It looked to be way over my boots. So, I bailed out of there and regrouped at another location. Nothing. I may have seen a bird. Don't quote me on that bird.
Going to scrounge up a junker spot for in the morning and cross that ditch early tomorrow afternoon. It usually drains really fast.

 

Use downed logs and make a raft! No excuses!!!!!!!! I’m so pumped to find out if this place pans out or not.

 

Back when cameras first came out, the 35mm ones you had to take and get developed to see what you had, a friend of mine bought one and set it up on a field and about a week later he took it to get developed. He had a whole roll of pictures of the man who owned the land bush hogging.

 

Had 2 come in before legal light . One bigger and bullying the other one. Came to the bottom of tree but couldn’t tell if it had antlers or not . Sure acted like a buck . Once it got light had some deer running around . Rattled up a spike and saw another button buck and a doe . Got real windy around 9 . I stayed until 945 . It was around 19 degrees with the wind chill .
