I'm not sure about the area but... I found this info online. Haven't found anything about required insurance yet.

    Just wanted to clarify this:

    1. I have spoken with LEO for the National Forest and was advised that 15-20 feet of either side of the road is not considered off trail as long as it's for a purpose not just to bypass a road closure. So did this fall within the trail, yes it did.

    2. Since you were not there and can't really see the terrain very well from the picture, it would have been unsafe to close down a one lane road on the side of a mountain. The vehicle rolled down a hill and off the trail so there was no reason to close it down. Again, not sure if you read it but we were there for 2 hours recovering this vehicle because local FD wasn't coming.

    3. If some organization is going to take photo's out of context, why post more for them to do so.

In accordance with Forest service regulations, no permits were required by Prescott National Forest. I spoke to them the week before to confirm that was the case, but I already knew it was because I worked for the FS for a year from 09-10.

In accordance with local and state law; because members of TW did not pay for us to lead them on a trail run no insurance was required and therefore was not purchased.

This Trail run was conducted on National Forest Land.

I just wanted to clarify this for those that asked questions and points that were brought up. I don't believe there is anything further to be said on the matter at this time as several Mods have already stated. If anyone would like to discuss if further, you may PM me or Alex.

True, but the land we were traveling on was not state trust land, but rather Prescott National Forest (thus federal open lands). Per their fees, we did not apply: http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/prescott/passes/index.shtml

It is good to remember for future events and planning though.

    Edit: Taylor beat me :D

A lot of legalese. For it to be "Official" the owner of TW and the staff have to have a way of not being held liable for any actions on the trail. By calling it an "Official" the Owner of TW is essentially "sponsoring" the event.

Agreed, nor do I think TW should be sponsoring the events for that very reason. However I see no issue with free adverting TW during local meets :D

I hope we get some, still dry here

    Yes.
The highest bill I have ever had was $300... That's with a two story, three bedroom house. Plus, with fifty snakes...there are a lot of lights on. Haha.
