Here we go! Minus the dog hair it’s pretty clean. Haha. The brain lives under the driver’s seat, tucked away. Then when it’s not in use it stows in the center console through the wire slot there. I just love the compact nature of this radio.

I laugh at the number of retards that spin everything into a "my 2nd gen was much better story" sure the 2nd gen battery lasts forever, most people drove their 2nd gen 1,000,000 miles, sold it for more than they paid for it new and took the battery out and put it in their new truck

Everyone living in cold climates or something? All of my vehicles have gone 5-8 years without being replaced.

It got down to 19 here last night. My OEM battery sounded a little slow turning my 4 banger over this morning. Would not surprise me if it quits on me this winter. Truck is only 13 months old. I'll put a Interstate battery in her when the Toyota battery takes a shit.

I bought a Rugged Geek 1000A jump pack with air compressor. Haven't used it yet, but my old Wagan PowerDome LT has been used many times, both jumping and airing up tires. That old thing is lead-acid battery and I think only 300A. Absolutely essential to have, IMO.

 

That is the same one I have, jumped a 350 Chevy and 302 Ford V8 trucks with it and it did fine.

 

56,000 mi and I'm still on the OEM battery. I clean it twice a year, using baking soda, a brush and rinse with fresh water. From what I've heard, hot temperatures (desert and southeast) tend to stress a battery and cause premature failure.

 

Well I guess Southern California counts as the desert right? Haha

 

I’d look into Odyssey (current sale is 20% off) or Northstar (sale on group buy) AGM batteries.

The word is Optima shit the bed when they moved production to Mexico.

 

If it's a push start then it might not be that simple. My dumb fiesta ST has the retarded push start (with a manual transmission) so when the battery is 100% dead you can't manually turn a key or switch into the "ignition" position (happend to me before). If the battery has barely enough juice left, you might be able to toggle the START button into ignition position and do your bump start.

 

Thankfully the Manual Tacoma has a key.

 

The Toyota batteries are crap. My last 2nd gen made it just under a year before going dead suddenly in a parking lot. Toyota would have replaced it with another crummy battery under warranty. I didn't want the hassle and uncertainty so I just bought a Bosch from Pep Boys. It lasted about 5 years in the roasting heat of Bakersfield before I had to put in another one.

Those jump starters are great. I keep one in the boat and I need to grab another for the truck, especially because I have nearly a year on the crappy original battery.

 

I heard optima got bought out by johnson something. My first optima lasted 14 years in 3 different cars. The next one didn't last 3 years. Went back to interstate.

Jump starters, I bought the antigravity years ago, measured 75 amps. Recently I got the batteryless rezervo, measured 232 amps. Sometimes it takes both if its way down below 4 volts.
