    @madman925 can verify this too...

    When I say the rack really kinda only fits in one spot
    (If your 4wd) and almost self locates itself where the holes need to be made.

    I got more R and D under my belt and I'm gunna try to CAD up a paper template for guiding where to cut for the barrels and may offer a sort of fit kit with mount hardware and new barrels

    I will take some more photos for people soon but yeah. IDK how it fits but it does. It is just almost touching a bunch of stuff but it fits. And like you said because its almost touching in a bunch of spots it self locates.

    Update. I still have to get this thing aligned and take it on some trails but one more thing I noticed this weekend driving the truck around is that it doesnt turn as sharp at full lock. After checking my LCAs my lower spindle piece no longer contacts the arm at full lock. I dont believe this is an issue as its not far off but I believe it is worth noting. Im still enjoying the powerful rack. My truck is so much easier to drive on the road. I can turn the tires at a dead stop no problem.

    Since Nick noticed this I went and took some measurements to make sure the racks are machined down to the stock length and they are...just never measured the stroke length and the stroke is a little less than what a stock rack can move. But as you can see and decide for yourself if you can live with a little bigger turning radius.

    I’d be curious to know exactly how many degrees of steering are lost with the swap.

    had my eye on this thread since it posted. but i haven't seen any discussion on the steering performance dynamics on road yet. @Basikbiker are you or anyone else here able to provide some feedback on how this steers and feels differently on road? does it reduce steering weight, have a different lock, different steering ratio, different on-center feel or response than the stock Tacoma rack? i'm looking at this on a Tacoma with 30" E tires and i'm on the highway at high speed daily, so how it turns the wheels relative to the stock rack is a major consideration.

    in terms of how it steers, yes, it's fine. in terms of strength and durability, and low speed ability to turn in particular, no. or were you being rhetorical?

    Do you off-road at all or plan on getting larger tires at any point?

    General longevity of seals will be comparable to the stock rack with only 30” tires. Low speed ability to turning and stopped turning will be easier for sure, but if not beating on your rig or planning on much larger tires, that would be the only noticeable benefit to you.

    that could be. or maybe not. i have an unusual path of modification on this truck. without going into any detail, most every modification I've done on it was strongly doubted by basically everyone around here including by the guy who does most of my work on it, i guess because nobody really understood what I'm accomplishing over here. but everything I've done has been a game changer with the truck in a good way. hugely, in fact. that's why I'm asking questions about it.

    early last year my truck got smacked hard directly on the hub center right over the axle and it turned my alignment inside out. i got it checked and fixed, no play and no leaks at the time or since, but I'm watching it closely now because it's a known weak part, and i do have some performance issues at low speed. so it got me thinking and asking questions. no 37's or any of that. but this could possibly fit right into what I'm doing, so questions are good now.

    You lose a little turning radius. With big tires it drives like a stock rack...little tires itll steer very easily....I drive my truck on the road all the time and long trips...no issue.

    This is also an "offroad use only" application and is intended for big tires or where there are high steering loads.

    Grind the welds out with an angle grinder and they come out the top. This will make them a little shorter, but you can build up a little weld there, and it gives a little more rack clearance.

    That sounds even less pleasant than my method, which sucked big rocks right off the ground.
