    they keep raising taxes and prices on everything. to expensive to live here and can't make enough to move away. right now it is $4.60 a gallon for 91 octane. i have heard of people paying $1000 plus for registration on new 2500 trucks.

    Gas here in Chicago is pretty comparable to that. Is that registration done every year

    yes. and every 2 years is smog. there are a few exceptions to smog. new cars get 5 years before having to smog. might bump up to 10 year. no sure though. older than 75 no smog. trying to push that up to 84, i think. that is still a few year out before happening. diesels every 2 years from 98 and up. diesels dont get the 5 year grace when new. they keep trying to push the idea of smogging motorcycles. they have put emission standard on gardening equipment for commercial companies.

    I sweated bullets before my first smog with the URD 7th injector kit installed (not CA legal) and the tech didn't notice it. I did wrap the braided fuel line in electrical tape to make less obvious and look more like any other vacuum line in there, but I don't know if that was even necessary. Passed smog with flying colors.

    The aftermarket things I would for sure avoid in CA or non-CARB intakes (snorkels are OK, passed with mine), non-CARB catalytic converters and non-CARB headers. Obviously if you have a supercharger they will recognize that and you have to have the appropriate CARB sticker for it, but I highly doubt they would notice a pulley change. And if they did, it would be an easy thing to swap out just for the smog cert.

    Those exhaust mods, man. Headers and downpipes won't pass inspection easy.

    Wait! Didn't Newsom ask your Atty Gen to "investigate whether California’s leading oil and gas suppliers are involved in price-fixing or other unfair practices" resulting in "gasoline prices that can be 30 cents a gallon higher than those in other states"? Genius that he is, he can't connect the dots between environment regulation, taxes, and unacceptably high prices so he's going to squander tax dollars "investigating" it... :rofl:

    If it makes you feel any better, we pay a value-based ownership tax on vehicles here in CO (that resembles CA more and more). IIRC, it started out at ~$1.5K/yr when I bought my Shelby in 2012 and it's currently running ~$500/yr. At the same time, our roads are falling apart because the politicians claim there's no money to fix them. :censored:

    Kinda. Mostly if ur ride is not loud and no cels generally no prob. Registration on all my vehicles is like $80 plus like $10 for a state inspection. However it does piss me off that I do this on my cars to be legal and whatnot and there are ghetto rides with expired state reg and cracks in the sidewalls next to cops and they dont care, but that's mostly a san antonio thing.

    It ain’t too bad here. As long as no cels your pretty much good. They don’t look at things with a fine tooth comb at all. Some parts of IL don’t even test. There’s no yearly state inspection. I don’t have to pay to get the emissions test which is surprising due to everything costing money here.
    I’d love to run long tubes and could if I wanted to. I personally just don’t want to deal with the o2 sims cuz I know eventually I know I’ll have problems.

    Yep, I’ve had one for 95k miles. They did a good job on my last rebuild and the coupler is solid.

    I might be able to part with my stealth 2.5....I need some key ways cut in a couple of can gears...

    I have some of those fancy injectors from the groupbuy that I’m probably going to be parting with. New never installed. I also have an hptuner that I haven’t opened yet. Let me know if you’re interested.

    You know that there are several counties right next to you that don’t require biannual inspections right? Just need to register in the GRAY counties on their map.
