So we have several most mileage threads, and its clear these trucks can go far. 999,999 has been hit. And still counting.... So how about long term ownership?

Having met several long term owners, I'm curious who has held on the longest. Are there are 1st gen original owners out there? T100 original owners out there? Trucks passed down through the family? How long have you owned your rig?

I bought a 1998 T100 in 2001, it had come off the first owner's 3-year lease. I drove it for 17 years and sold it in Oct. 2018 so I could buy stuff for my new 2018 Tacoma. I loved that T100, it was bulletproof but was getting some severe rust above both rear wheel wells. The interior carpet, upholstery, and plastic had a higher quality plushness and feel compared to the new Tacoma.

mine looks 'almost-great' (at least in my opinion, could always be better though i guess) considering the fact it has lived nowhere else but on the outskirts of the mid west and has done battle with the salt monster many times with winter ventures into Iowa, Chicago & Wisconsin, (SD,MO & KS too, i don't recall ever having to go into MN in the winter) a number of times over the decades, plus the local road chemicals they use here on the NE/IA border
Thank goodness it passed frame inspection in 2o11 (or they would've crushed it) but now is undergoing a DIY thorough frame mod to keep it going until whenever comes along!
... have only found surface crusty stuff so far under really crappy paint i am trying to fix ... about six months into this so far

    IMG_9672.jpg

did you have the '98 all the days in PA, i hear the winters there are nasty! like they can be here on occasion when the Texas gulf weather meets the Canadian arctic and Denver/Wyoming mountains blocks it just sits on top here and moves east :goingcrazy:

are you two aware of how 'unpopluar' our '97s are?
outside of the 95.5 (half Year model) OUR year had the least amount sold of all 1st gens
