iPhone 11 bluetooth drops during calls

2017 off road and just got an 11 pro max and have 13.2 sw and my headend unit reboots 5 or 6 times per trip since yesterday

 

Have 2017 Tacoma and about 3 weeks ago did a free upgrade from my service provider to an Iphone 11. It has been losing connectivity with blue tooth every call about 3 to 4 minutes in. I can play music from u-tube on audio for ever, issues are on phone side. I have been to the dealer 4 times so far, they did a software update on the unit and didn't help after that they said there was a short in it and it needs to be replaced but of course they expect me to pay for it that's over a grand and I'm not going to go there. Talked to apple support and they said until Toyota sends them updates on Toyota software they don't know what to do. If it wasn't for the fact that I paid cash for it new it would be traded now. This is my 3rd Tacoma and at this point it's up to Toyota if it will be my last.

 

I still think it's a phone or phone-software thing and not so much the Entune unit. I say this because phone version 12.x had zero problems (at least I've not heard of any) and as soon as 13.x came out there were issues. Issues that were advertised fixed with 13.1, 13.1.2 and 13.2. And FWIW, 13.2 seems to have fixed the phone problems on my 2019 OR as well as issues I was having with Raycon ear buds not connecting.

 

Updated my iphone last week, now the radio shuts off and restarts over and over unless i shut off blue tooth. At the dealer now getting regular svc done, and they are doing the available update on the radio.

Talked to a Geek Squad tech at Best Buy today and they said iPhone 11 is on blue tooth 5.0 and there is a good possibility that my Taco is on blue tooth 3.0 or 4.0 and would be where the problem is, I don't know what blue tooth version my 2017 Taco has they also said instead of the dealer doing a software update it would need a firmware update.

 

Mine does stay on when phones off blue tooth

Dealer updated my head unit, tried to remove and reinstall. Same thing
Iphone 7 with 13.1? WTF

 

My head unit is absolutely useless. I too have I phone 11 pro and it worked totally fine with Bluetooth calling and music then starting yesterday constantly crashes while truck is on. Has anyone gotten a fix to this problem? So stupid considering it’s a 2019 I bought brand new with 1200 miles on it.

 

My 19 offroad sometimes had bluetooth issues. I'd have to usually turn the truck off and back on and it would be fine. Mine would show connected but then nothing would actually work.

Wife and I both have iPhone 11’s and both our phones when on call the calls will drop after about 1 min

 

Ive had this issue alot lately but... I have a iphone 10Xs, Calls always drop after a few mins. The phone"fail" to connect when starting the truck up in the morning. I have to stop and restart my truck to connect the audio. The thing is the contacts show up and the phone is "connected" its just wont play spotify. I hope a firmware/software/whatever they call it will improve the issue. Its annoying as hell but ive never tested it to have exact answers. I work in IT so im pretty good at troubleshooting and having a clear cause and affect. My list of random shit in life is longish so when I get to ill update but if anyone knows the quick fix id love to hear and test.

This was never an issue when I got the truck so something has obviously changed

My best guess is whatever IOS the iphone 11 launched with would be a good start.
Any phone that could upgrade to it causing the same issue

 

having same issues since new iPhone 11. Frustrating since always happens on work calls. Had iPhone 7 previous and did Not have this issue of drop calls. Error message says this app is not supported? I deleted the Bluetooth connection and reconnected the iphone. Seems to help but not 100% yet.

 

13.2.2 dropped this AM. I don't know if it will fix any of the existing problems, but worth a shot.

 

I downloaded it Sunday morning, haven’t tried yet. In work truck most of the time.

 

I downloaded 13.2.2, installed it into phone, connected it to the truck, radio re-booted 3 times in less than a minute. What a pain. I had to shit off the blue tooth like I have been doing lately.

The dealer is asking Toyota for a new radio, even though, I don't think it will make any change. The dealer said the stock JBL radio is worth 5 grand and I think it's a real waste. I asked if they can change it to the 2020 version but they said no.

 

I have tons of problems with dropped calls from my vehicle... iPhone 7, x and 11
