Anyone with a 3" lift downsize from 285's to 265's (70/17)? Any regrets?

How many inches of lift did you have in this photo?

Would you recommend 275 for a 2.5" lift? I was thinking of going 275/70/r17 in the Wildpeaks AT3w which look aggressice for an all terrain.

I'm getting some Bilstein 6112s installed this coming week for 2.5" of lift and can't decide on tires. I have a set of 16" wheels and some 17" wheels both different brands. Cant decide if I should go 275/70r17, 285/70/r17 or even like you go 285/75/16.

Thanks brother. I figured it beats asking the same damn question for the 100th time or posting up a similar thread that could be found by researching.

I personally would go 285, in either wheel size. Much larger selection of tires. You’ll just have a little more clearancing to do. Honestly you’d be happy with either. From an aesthetic stand point, it has more to do with how aggressive the tread is vs the size

Thanks! My shop keeps telling me go 285/70/r17 because it looks better but I'm being a baby about the mpgs. I thought 275/70r17 would be a good in between but maybe not. Im getting the Wildpeaks which look aggressive in person even though they are an AT. Decisione, decisions, decisions.

I have 275's on two lifts so far. One on my Tacoma, and now on my 4runner. I think it's perfect. I valet done hardcore offloading like some here, But I have gone off road in some bumpy sections and although I may have had timing the clearance in certain spots, I was fine. In fact, When I was in Nova Scotia this year, I went offloading and I only had 275's on a stock 4runner. I was fine. I came home and put the lift on and now it's even better. But I think the 275's are a perfect compromise for a daily driver.

Mpg will get hurt more by weight than diameter, so take that into consideration when shopping around

Thank you! This helps. I have 2 kids both are under 2.5 years old and work a high stress sales career. Id be lying if I said I would be off roading twice a week. Ive be happy to go 1 time a month at the very least. I noticed the Kbro2s are lighter than the Wildpeaks, but I already had a set of Falkens in oem size and have been so happy I'm buying them again.

This exactly is what had me looking at the Kbro2s because the 285/70/r17 in 6 ply weights 51 lbs versus the Falkens weighting 57-61 lbs for a similar ply.

I have had BFG AT's on both with the lift. Before I put the lift on the 4runner, I put 50k miles on a set of wild peaks. I loved them, but in stock size, and stock suspension, dropped my MPG by 1-1.5. With a 275 BFG's and a 2.5 inch lift ( ARB BP-51) I kept the same mpg's. Hope that helps.
