Good morning and soon to be afternoon ladies and gentlemen time for some exceptional excitement with the leaves and the random shit I need to do all day to get my fair share of no peace of mind and relaxation. I am sure I am not alone , so I will leave it at that.

Very sweet looking. What in particular makes it a no-no in MA? Please go easy as I know nothing about firearms..

    It's a modern Gen Glock.

They are banned in our state.

    No real reason.

I was honestly under the impression it was more its reputation that got it banned. I know that sounds ridiculous... It very well could be the lack of safety.

@LivinLoud stop working so hard and come educate me!

Per state of MA legislation, the gun manufacturer needs to send several guns to the state for “testing” before being allowed for FFL sale in the state. A massive company like Glock isn’t going to jump through hoops for the state of MA; their doing okay for sales without us haha.

The loophole has always been MA LEOs can carry Glocks as their service firearm and then can private sale them to anybody afterwards.

It’s really just a stupid law that’s useless. Same as the magazine high capacity rule. I can’t buy a brand new Glock 30 round magazine for 20 bucks but if I find one manufactured before 1994 I can legally own it?! Yeah that makes sense

Lacking a safety I guess makes some sense. Reputation is odd, since if I remember right many police used it.

Yes that is a pretty dumb law..though let's not say it too loud before some fool closes up that loophole.

Well I can’t afford 100+ for a magazine that’s 1/5 that price brand new but you’re right, I should enjoy the options I have. I do envy the gun laws in NH though :spending:

I think it's also that they don't submit them for testing. And if they don't get submitted for testing it's not approved regardless

A Glock has a safety, just not a conventional one

True, but part of a bigger picture. Mass has a list of requirements, one of which is a Clear loaded chamber indicator. Modern Glocks do not have that. Glock is a huge company, and is not going to go out of their way to make a compliant model just for this state, which also goes back to the testing, as mentioned.

as for the LEO exemption- we use them for service pistols and are allowed to own anything that we may use in the line of duty, such as high cap mags and other fun guns. Glocks that are purchased legally in the state, are available for person to person transfer but not available to sell by an FFL to a non-LEO

Don’t profess to know much about how the MA list of firearms is developed. But, I do know there are some Glocks on the list, as shown on the below screenshots of the list.

I see the list has changed to accommodate some gen4 now! That’s much different than the last time I looked into it. But that was quite a few years ago before I worked in the field

Yea but they won't submit it for testing if they know it won't pass due to laws

I know it has a trigger safety, and such. I didn't say it didn't have any safeties

Sort of surprising they haven't jumped on the train with CT,MA and NY having some of the toughest laws and having you guys surrounded.
