Hey ken, me again...I have abandoned the on off switch idea for my ADD and went to a simple on/off/on momentary switch for now, my question is I want to use the micro switches in the actuator as circuit breakers so I am not applying power after actuator is maxed out. Is this something that can be done simply? Any ideas would help

 

You could but I don’t know the specifications of the limiting switches inside the actuator. If you flow the load of the motor through them with the intent of when it reaches its end point of travel, to break the circuit, you might fry them. If you did this using relays and had the trigger of the relay flow through the switches I would be confident in their function. What was wrong with what we had before (post amending the diagram)

To be perfectly honest. I didn't pay attention to the logic (I didn't make sure that the switches line up with the limits and the respective relays). I just made the drawing as simple to read as possible. If I can get verification on travel of the actuator (IE: Out = 2wd / IN = 4wd), I could make sure that the logic works.

I just noticed that I made the same mistake that I called you out for. I'll make a correction to the drawing ASAP and re-post.

If there is any interest, I've been toying around with the idea of using standard 12 volt DC multi-pin relays to make this process totally animated (momentary press to full travel with LED indication of travel).

So I have a simple question, I ordered and hooked up this switch last night for the time being but when I try to activate the switch on or off it's only putting out 2v when everything is hooked up. If I unplug leads to actuator the switch is putting out 12v as it should. I can use my power probe on the leads to the actuator and it works that way as well. I was using this diagram with this switch

 

Connect the motor to 2 / 5

Connect 12V+ to 1/6

Connect 12V- to 3/4

These connections should make it run. But how will you shut it OFF?

 

I was under impression that motor went to 1 and 3 with jumpers, momentary 1 is in, off is no power, and momentary 2 or down is actuator opposite direction

 

Yes I know that I turned it around on you. It just looks easier to me that way. It should have worked if you wired the circuit exactly how it is shown? Wouldn't hurt to try it the way I suggested.

Jumper 1 & 6 (just like in the drawing)---------Connect 12V+
Jumper 3 & 4 (just like in the drawing)---------Connect 12V-

Motor leads on 2 & 5

PS: So the switch is 3 position? I couldn't tell from looking at the drawing. If so, yes, middle position should be OFF.

Yes sir. (12V-) is Ground.
