hah! don't worry about them. They just don't know any better.

I had a Dakota before my Taco and I had all kinds of problems with it. None of them real show stoppers, but it still sucked. Every plastic handle/lever on it broke off, replaced water pump, 2 thermostats, 2 upper radiator hoses, 2 lower radiator hose, 2 full brake replacements, heater quit working, dog ran away and girls laughed at me. All within 35k miles!

NEVER will I buy a Chrysler product again!

Most of them were pretty good actually. We do the same here. H3 anyone?

    This guy though...

Obviously doesn't realize that the difference between him and his friend who owns a tacoma is experience. You could have an inexperienced off roader in a hardcore crawler and Walker Evans in a Jeep Compass and I promise you Walker will fucking destroy the other guy.

Vehicles do so much, experience does so much more.

I have to agree. You can't expect much more. It is an XJ forum. If you was to come on hear and start a thread saying you got rid of your tacoma and bought an XJ. Then you said that it could walk circles around the tacoma. You would catch hell from everyone on here. Or it would be like going on a chevy forum and saying you got rid of your chevy for a ford.

My uncle just purchased for cash a loaded to the hill jeep wrangler rubicon + almost 12K in upgrades pre installed from dealer. First day following me off road his front axel was not pulling in high 4.... cable came undone.... Next day went to start and couldn't, found out battery was dead, winch wired wrong, lights wired wrong..... He took it back and they said they fixed the jeep. Goes to leave the dealership and the cd player wont play sound via the speakers.... Walks back in side gives the manager the keys and says refund.... Next day goes to toyota and buys an FJ + Navigation.... Says he doesnt need all that crap, its an FJ. LOL

Buy a jeep in the early 80's late 70's, gut it and your good... Anything else and your contributing to the worlds clutter problem. LOL

Moral to the story, jeeps are awesome if you purchased them before 1989 lol.

Believe you me, I've yet to announce that I traded in my JK for that
exact reason. I knew most of the guys on the forum (the ones that
lived close to me in PLano) but I understand.
I don't regret trading her in for a second; a wrangler is a great 2nd vehicle.
It's a bad daily driver; considering how far I now drive to work.
I'll get another one some day but I'm not surprised at all at what they
wrote; to each his own bud. Enjoy the toyota!!!

Ummm I think that should read CJ.....the last of the real jeeps.

I love my taco I have a 2000 just like yours minus the v6 and trd and it has never let me down. I just had the original clutch fail yesterday at 185,4xx miles. Now that is impressive. In the ten years I've owned it I've spent a total of $1000 on it mostly for stuff that was my fault. I'm tempted to get a new one but it's hard to let go of such a great truck. I've put all but 4 of those miles on it and it is awesome.
