Theres a green gate located about 50 yards south of the gate you posted in your pics. Just out of the pic around the corner.

The issue I have is where I got stuck a few years ago.
This was a pretty steep hill and once I got down in 1st gear, it pretty much dug in.

Coming thru Gorges this past weekend, the hill at turkey pen gap look massive!! I dont think my prerunner can make it up that.
But the video from 2 years ago shows a hill that doesnt look like the turkey pen gap hill.

You don't happen to have GPS coords where the gate is, do you? I just want to confirm it is the same gate.

It was recently graveled when all went, and I bet all that gravel has settled in now. I remember thinking it didn't look all that bad compared to when I had been there before. A couple of years ago, before they smoothed it, you almost had to pick a line to go up or down that hill.

For that matter CMR itself should be starting to get a little more rutted now than it was when we had the big group in there.

You can see the split here.
I was walking around with my GPS in pocket and Kyle and I were waiting to hear Kent honk his horn to come on thru at the gate.
We never heard him so we decided to go, thinking he was kidnapped by deer or bear at the boarder.

Thanks to @truckbeans for pointing me to this thread. I was going to try to make the trip with y'all on Saturday, but ended up heading to NC on Friday night. I'm about 2 hours from the trailhead, so I'd like to join on a future trip.

I spotted atleast 5 areas where a locked prerunner would have issues.

On the top of my head....i can only remember 2. 1 was at the turkey pen, 4 way.
And honestly, I don't even remember that hill when we had the huge group a couple years ago with Adam, Skip, jimbo and the rest.
How I don't remember it is beyond me.
That hill is freaking yuge and it's not the hill I got stuck on when we were there.

    Could be. Turkey pen gap.
    It's a 4 way but 2 gates are closed.
I don't remember that 4 way in the OP trip.

Yeah, that is where CMR ends and Auger Hole Rd begins depending which way you're going. The gated road straight from CMR is Auger Hole Trail, and I dunno the other road's name. When we had the big group that hill was pretty well gravelled, but the 2wd trucks got a run at it from Turkeypen.

Idk how that is even possible.
I took a strap from Jimbo to get up a hill, it wasn't the hill at Turkey pen gap because when we came from MGR this last time, it was a hard left turn at TPG and the hill started immediately. There was no room to get a running start for us prerunners.

Only reason we had to get pulled back up was because of group size. If it were only 4-5 trucks we could've made it. I only got stuck once I stopped because it was so steep but once I backed back down and hit it again I was going up just fine until I had to stop. We went down that road going in. One way in and one way out if the gates are closed.

I don't think it would be so bad without the fresh gravel. Guys were slinging some serious gravel out there.

Starting to remember now how long it's been since I was out there.
