According to the link it’s a trd off road, not a 2wd.

It is a 2WD Off Road, that monster does exist. If you look at the underhood pictures you will see a traditional style vacuum brake booster which means 2WD.

Echoing what others have said but also think about why anyone would rent a truck. To haul things in the bed or tow. I'd look at the condition of the bed and tow hitch to see how many of those miles might be under a load.

On a 2019 with that mileage it means maybe 2 oil changes done at Jiffy Lube.

I bought my wife's Hyundai as a rental. Motor shit the bed after a year and a half. thank God for warranties. I'd buy a warranty with it if its an option.

I learned something new today! With that said or without it said I wouldn’t buy it. For 20-24k range maybe but unless the price is extremely low I wouldn’t due to resale value being depreciated so badly. I know many people don’t purchase with intent to sell but I don’t keep a vehicle long enough so resale value is extremely important to me. If I were interested in owning it until it fell apart then I’d be fine with a 10k mileage purchase from anywhere due to warranty options still being there. However if 2wd is fine then I doubt I’d choose a trd off road, I’d rather just snag an sr5.

My company provides rentals very often if needed. If a truck is needed we rent trucks. It’s never rented to haul a trailer or overload the truck and surprisingly most rentals are actually driven just normal. Some may get on the gas pedal a bit to see what it’s capable of in the event the person considers purchasing but most people just drive rentals normally.

It is interesting what some posters have said on how "rentals" are driven so it is a bad idea to purchase one. My comment would be is I don't buy used even from private parties. Those who abuse rentals most likely abuse their own vehicles. If not, then it shows they have little respect for other peoples vehicles. :crapstorm:

That does seem high for a 2wd truck.

Don't forget if a renter used valet at any point.

I was a valet at one point in my life. The shit I saw co-workers do specifically to rentals was just not cool. I will say, they showed respect to personal vehicles.

    OP: Just walk away.

Shop used, not used rental. There are better buys out there, without 66 test drives from hell.

Another thing to remember, these big rental companies do all their repairs in house. So if it was in an accident or had an issue and was repaired by them, it probably will not show up on any carfax report.

You'd be surprised, at least in the southwest , what a 2wd truck + locker can do.

IIRC -Warranty and loan companies don't always cover used rental vehicles

I wouldn't buy a 2wd OR. I wouldn't buy a used rental car, and I definitely wouldn't buy a used rental TRUCK. It's not even like its a smoking deal either. I would still walk away at $25k for that truck.

Years ago I worked for a rental car company and shuttled vehicles into and out of Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. My coworkers and I drove vehicles between the airport and the off-site rental car lot. It was a short run of less than two miles, but in those two short miles we beat the living snot out of those cars. And I guarantee that many customers don't treat rentals much better than that.

Personally, I would steer clear of a rental... :burnrubber:
