Figured I should finally hop in this thread.

Only a couple little guys tonight, but not a bad place to spend the evening.

Yampa? Only got to fish it once when i lived out there. Fished all the north park streams, and the N Platte.

Yep. Not bad for 5 minutes from home.

I fish in North Park quite a bit too, and like hitting northgate canyon, but most of my time there is spent chasing these guys:

If you ever make it out to Cali and want to go catch some CO cutties I know a place. Pure strain that's been untouched for almost 90 years. It's truly the stuff of dreams. Until you realize where it is. lol

Been meaning to make a wheeling trip out that way, but may need to make it a a wheeling/fishing trip. :D

And I'm no stranger to hiking way in chasing fish - if that's what you mean.

Which reminded me - wheeling fishing trips are the best. Here's @Reh5108 showing me how it's done with the Tenkara on the last one.

One of my rods is always in my rig. Fishing after a hard day of wheeling is so relaxing.

As far as the Williamson Bowl goes, it's a long hike with tons of elevation gain. It's no secret and it still only gets fished a handful of times a year. As far as Cali wheeling goes, just let me know what's on your bucket list. I've done most of the hard trails and there's so many good one's it's really hard to go wrong.

Yeah, that looks like a haul up there! Looks like an awesome place to check out though. I'll have to hit you up if I head that way.

Also - not 100%, but pretty sure that cutty in my pic is a greenback. Was caught east of the divide, but likely, it's some mix thereof.

Too many places to explore, and not enough summer though! Every trip I go on adds more places to the list.

Just finished a trip to Hawaii to see the grandkids and was able to spend one morning throwing flies. Caught a bunch of these Marbled Hawkfish. Always lots of fun to try something new.A9470049-AFA5-477B-A8B4-1C10F7638498.jpg

Anyone seeing spawning browns yet? Here in GSMNP we are beginning to see them move out into the open and prep for spawning.

Cleaning out the closet and figured I’d check here to see if anybody is interested in a jacket and shirt that are too big for me now...

Simms softshell fleece navy blue in XL - $50 shipped CONUS obo. Retailed for $150. Good condition, minus the rubber tool hanger that disintegrated in the washing machine... Personally think it looks better without it.

Patagonia LS cotton shirt (Fjord I think?) brown plaid in XL - $30 shipped CONUS obo. Retailer for $70-80. Worn quite a bit, but no holes or anything.

Just moved to NW Washington state, any folks on here in the area to talk PNW fly fishing?

In other news, finished a trip back home to take the old man fishing and our trip didn’t disappoint!

In the market for a 3wt fast-ish action rod. 7'6"-9', whatever. Not too picky beyond that.

Figured I would check here if anyone has one they were looking to part with before I keep throwing bids around on fleabay.

I haven't. Was looking to get a setup for small creek fishing for little fish where I feel my 9' 5wt is overkill. Was also thinking about getting a shorter, slower action 5wt, but thinking I would like to try a 3wt setup.

Also, maybe it doesn't matter as much with a shorter rod, but a 4 piece would be preferred.

And just because, here's a beautiful little cuttie. This is kinda stuff where I'm wanting that new setup.

And from more recently. Getting skunked in town, but the alpenglow is worth it.

A short 3w is perfect for small streams. If you need to pack it a 4 piece is great but a 2 piece 7' in a tube is pretty manageable. The biggest difference when going down in line weight is how the wind affects you. You can punch a 5w into wind. You can't punch a 3w into wind well. So you just learn to adjust your fishing technique on windy days. For clear alpine streams a 3w is a great choice. Plus they are just fun to fish. I've always been an "ultralight" guy whether it's spin or fly. Good luck in the search.
