it really sucks that it has come to the point of having to go and vette another mechanic outside of Toyota that does service on other vehicles and does not know my toyota inside out backwards allaround

Toyota dealers have messed with me and my Tacoma one two many times
i ask for suspension check and they wish to charge me over $100 to check everything make sure nothing is of immediate concern

there is another local place that has free winter inspection of everything but how do I know if they KNOW what the hell they are doing

Vetting is the process of performing a background check on someone before offering them employment, conferring an award, or doing fact checking prior to making any decision. In addition, in intelligence gathering, assets are vetted to determine their usefulness.

I'm not aware of any physical disabilities you may have (if any) or how mechanically inclined you are, but just getting underneath, you'll be able to tell what needs servicing and/or replacing.

Without even getting underneath, you can already figure out what needs servicing based on time/mileage.

Stop it, tsk tsk. Time for you to take it upon yourself to learn to at least inspect your shtuff or stay subject to the will of others and how they do it.
I've (edit:Kwikvette as well) been your biggest encourager because I want you to learn to inspect for yourself. I'm trying to believe in you man but you're making it hard for me. As simple as that.
Is there anything realistically I/we can say, share, or do to help you get to the point of inspecting your own stuff and feeling confident about it? I'm prolly caring about this way more than you so I'll shut up, I'm being the enabler I guess
You know by now I'm being sincere too.

There are a couple somewhat local to me... I'm a huge sucker for hot water and sitting in it for hours. Even better if it has the healing minerals and all that crap. The placebo effect does wonders for my mind:D

Depends on the airport and if you have to check bags...also if it's a holiday or not (long security lines)

I almost always fly out of our local smaller airport rather than LAX because LAX is a shitshow. More expensive flights but worth it. If I'm not checking a bag I'll get there an hour before boarding time and it always works out.
