So what did you come up with all this? Mine don't dim and the colors are the exact same

 

attempt at blacking out the hi-lens so it’s not so “bright” looking inside the blacked out headlight. Not sure if it will work but worth a try.

 

Mine don't dim either. I didn't worry about it. Not sure if halo and drl need to be set up to dim. Halo Amber will automatically dim if on continuously for 3sec

 

The inner turn signal... what’d you use?!

About to finally get the ball rolling on this. Ordered another set of headlights from a fellow TacomaWorld member so I’m not rushed. Couple quick questions:

How’s the paint holding up for everyone? I know a lot of these are rattle can jobs and I worry about longevity and fading over time so I’m considering having them professionally painted.

I know MesoJDM said there’s two schools of thought for heating these. Has anyone who’s done multiple BHLM’s chime in with what they personally believe to work best for separate the lens?

Black Head Lights Matter

 

So Black Lights Matter is the name of my company and I’ve done over 400 sets of these over the 3-4 years. Enough to know what works and what doesn’t. I’ve used krylon fusion for all my jobs and have had zero issues.

As far as separating the lense...see aforementioned comment. It’s not luck that I’ve turned this into a business. You’ll likely get a few different responses from people, but I will tell you, emphatically, that 300 degrees for 10 minutes and they will peel apart without any tools or prying. You will have to put the man hands on them. Don’t be afraid to pull.

 

300 for 10 minutes and they peel apart without tools?! That sounds a lot better than going to town with screw drivers and trim removal pliers. I’m looking forward to trying this.

Clean channels and no pry marks.

 

Congratulations. Most people, especially their first and only time, will struggle to split them even with tools baking them multiple times.

 

If you do it right you can get most of it out in one piece for the most part.

 

There’s no need to be a dick. My first set was done the same way. No tools.

 

Maybe people’s ovens are calibrated a little different
