I’m wondering what this is? I haven’t pulled the panels off to see what it attaches to yet. I pushed it, it clicks but does nothing. Maybe it attaches to a garage remote up under there.

I believe that’s the karr alarm system but I could be wrong.

First, I’m thinking someone has a hard time spelling, lol. I googled karr alarm, brings up never buy dealer installed alarm with pictures including my purple button box. Looks like these karr alarm systems were offered by dealers, they’re cheap aftermarket junk.

The guy I go to has been using Clifford alarms for years. I can sleep good knowing my investment is well protected. Even while driving, well here’s a scenario. You’re stopped at a light, someone runs up pointing a gun, you jump out, they jump in and drive away. 30-60 seconds later the alarm blows and the engine stumbles slowing the vehicle. Without entering a code into a keypad the engine will stall. Now they’re a safe distance from you unable to continue their getaway.

I’ll probably bring it to him, he’ll have a laugh and hook me up.

Thanks for the response, looks like you are correct.

Exactly right. My 2015 had a KARR alarm installed by the Toyota certified preowned dealer. It’s a cheap alarm installed to give saleman access to all the used cars on the lot. They’ll try to sell it to buyers in “activated” form and if the buyers decline they insert a “deactivation” chip and leave it it place.

Removal is like most alarms, mainly involving a small control box stuffed in the wiring nesr the driver”s side kick panel, a bunch of T-taps, and one main ignition wire to splice back together.

Karr alarms are cheap but typically reliable. Clifford alarms was bought many years ago by DEI. DEI's original brand of alarm was Viper. I was one of the first authorized DEI installers. DEI bought almost every single aftermarket vehicle alarm company and revamped almost every single brands products, including Clifford. Most are now built by the exact same people using the exact same internal parts with different exterior cases.

DEI's audio division did the exact same thing buying up a lot of different audio companies. The technical guru that started DEI's audio division hired me at a shop prior to leaving that shop to go work for DEI. DEI sent him to China and the entire original audio line was built to his specifications. On my first day he was installing an alarm and it looked like a huge job. I asked him what he was doing, he told me, I grabbed a test light and showed him how to cut off about 4 hours of installation time in less than 5 minutes. To his credit, the vehicle being worked on was a brand new completely redesigned model so as far as the industry was concerned it was new territory, but it wasn't new to me.

It wasn't the first time pertaining to me, it wasn't the last time, but it won't happen in the future again.
