Deal I made with the dealer $750 credit for stock tires and swapped out for the 265/75/16 KO2.

On the highway you wouldn’t notice a difference with cruise control.

ahh i see, i am sure down the road there will be a auto to manual conversion thread :) maybe when the trucks fully paid off ill consider it. my 03 tacoma is manual and is pretty fun driving, but not so fun driving with a load and up mountain terrain.

So is anyone else able to spec out a TRD sport with premium and tech package and LED headlights? When I do, I only get 3 color options. Any ideas on why Toyota site doesn’t give us more options?

Hi, new guy here! <waves> Anyone tracking on the 2020 Tacoma oil filter being weird that it is a dealer item only?

I don't know much about it. I just read about it in a comment thread in an Toyota ad on instagram; look like though 2020 Tacoma oil filter is not available on any auto parts store yet. So I am thinking it might be true.

I am thinking about a manual 2020 taco.

Certain colors only have certain packages it seems. I had the same issue when buying my voodoo blue 2020 TRD Sport. I could only get premium and advanced tech packages with the projector beam headlights. In order to configure the truck with LED headlights, in that color, you have to downgrade the advanced tech package. Seems weird to me, but that’s how Toyota is selling them right now. I ended up buying the truck because I got a good deal on it and I know I can add the OEM LED headlights and fogs myself. Can’t really add the OEM panoramic camera included in the advtech package after the fact. But I hear you.....I wish Toyota would just make all colors and all combos available.

You can always special order a truck through a sales rep and just wait for it to be built. I believe you can have them add the LED headlights to any package that way.

The oil filter is no big deal, it is a canister with a disposable filter element.

Wrong, and I can prove it given that I used the tool extensively when buying just a few weeks ago, but hey.....keep repeating that same point if it makes you feel better. ;) Your point might be how the tool is SUPPOSED to work, but it ain’t working that way right now.

Maybe try a different zip code? I couldn’t find what I wanted originally and had to have a dealer do an order for me. But I just did a search in So Cal and for a 2020 DCSB Sport with AT, Premium package, Advanced Tech, and LED lights I was able to create a build with all colors.

    Hope it helps.

Huh? I don't get how this proves anything. What is your "proof"?

The thing is we constantly get people in here asking if package X is available on trim level Y with color Z because they go to build it in the tool and it won't let them or only shows them a slightly different combination of packages. I bet you could find at least one example of someone asking a similar question about why they couldn't get something to show up in the build tool on every page of this thread and thus they assume that must mean Toyota doesn't make it. It does get tiring after a while.

The “proof” is I visited several dealerships in just the past month while shopping (and using the tool) and several trucks I looked at weren’t available combinations in the tool yet there they were on the lot. So I’ll say it again, the tool is not working the way you assume it is. Perhaps the intent may be to show what is available locally, but it’s not accurate where I live.

Btw, I had the same experience with the tool in 2018. Couldn’t configure an inferno TRD Sport with the orange accented fabric trim and the options I wanted. The tool actually listed it as “unavailable” at the bottom as I’m sure you’ve seen it do.....yet I went right down to the lot in Golden and there was a truck with the options I listed brand new on the lot. I ended up not buying that truck, but it showed me that tool isn’t necessarily to be relied upon for inventory purposes.

And hell, how that I think about it, this year the tool wouldn’t even show photos for over half of the truck configurations I was looking at in the TRD Sport lineup. The 2020 image links were all screwed up for several days. Lol I still think the tool is useful....but it’s also kinda screwy in my experience.

EDIT: Great tip about using a different zip. Hadn’t thought of that when doing my shopping but I wasn’t really taking the tool seriously for inventory based on comments above. But good to know you CAN configure these options even if it isn’t accurate to what is actually available. At least it is possible!
