The hinge I'm wanting to put on will allow it to open up past 90. Really no reason to though, at least in my opinion.

As far as bestop vs softopper, I'm not a huge fan of bestop. To fold it up, you have to remove the side windows and store them. Based on my experience with Kara's jeep soft windows, they scratch really easily so kinda a pita. Plus in the cold they can get brittle and crack.

All, valid points. Thanks. You know like assholes, I like opinions even more.

I just kinda thought the windows would make it more like a windoor on a cap. But, you know I overthink everything so......

Oh, saw a Taliban Tan Taco heading South on I-95 today and he took 695 East. I am positive he had the Mobtown bed rack for the softopper. He had some mole panels on it and some of those thin fuel cans. I really like that rack!

I grew up a big fan of Chuck Norris and the show "Walker, Texas Ranger" Chuck Norris and his character Cordell Walker were unstoppable in the series! The Taco has been a beast and gotten me through anything I have thrown at it, so I thought Norris was a fitting tribute name! It has only been called Norris for a few years as it had to prove itself and earn it! The name is not given to anything lightly!

Ps. I know I sound dumb!

Ok, so Softopper only sells direct from the factory. Bestop sells on Amazon. Correct?

I'm not sure about bestop. I bought my softopper direct from them.

You can't make up your mind either? Did you have the old wing nut? The new latch we use is a one-handed operation. If only you wouldn't have cut up your swing out, this would have been an easy mod.

I'm so back and forth. Yeah I had the wing nut, but also had to pull the pin up every time to open. That's why I like this design.

@EatSleepTacos I think you'll have to make me a rear bumper to really test your design.

Yup, the newer design fixed that too.

I'm sitting here even questioning my ability to do this swingout. I know I can make one, there's no question about that. I just don't know if I can make one that'll live up to my expectations and work as well as I want it too, i.e. the opening and closing operation, and not look bulky.

Yeah I know but then I'd need a whole new swingout pretty much. Easier than doing all the work to modify the old one. I'd basically be starting from scratch minus the mounts on the bumper itself but those are easy. I could just buy the parts off joe but I want to challenge myself. And I want to try and get the swingout tighter to the bumper, maybe mount the spare at an angle to match the angle of the softopper. Like on the 4runner.

You can do it. It's not too hard. Sketch up what you are thinking and I'll 3D the parts and Joe A can cut them on the plasma for you.

Did you get the screen panel for the rear? I am not sure I would need that. I don't ever plan to sleep back there.
