That's because it was made when they still had a great reputation. Look at any threads started about them in the last 5 years and you will see that is no longer the case.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I dunno that that is really worth it, at 12 years old even if it isn't dead I bet it isn't that healthy anymore. that's a really long time, even for a good battery. Use the dork tool at your work and measure its cranking amps and compare to the label, bet its lost over 30%

24F is the smaller of the two. 24F and 27F are the same height and width but the 27F is 2" longer. I have a 24F Megatron II and it takes up the entire tray.

They have not been cleaned since I bought it last Summer, and I know I should get to that. But, I've had other trucks w/manual L/Os and I just know the grease can stiff when temps get really low. Also, I made the tool as much for unlocking them. I have driven in a lot of mud over the years and it's nice not to get your hands muddy when you get back to pavement.

But your right, they should work pretty smooth when clean and warm. Mine feel a little stiffer than they should right now, but not what I would call too tight.

Not me, but I have seen other guys get water or condensate in there and have them freeze up. Not on Toyota, but other brand trucks.

I have the Northstar 27F in my truck.

It fits no problem, but it is not perfect.

I removed the plastic tray at the bottom.
The battery is not as wide (front to back) as a 24F só the clamp doesn’t hold it secure at the 90 degree pieces. I put some small pieces of cut up mountain bike tube (rubber) there to take up some space.

the battery has shifted a little bit after some off roaring, but not too much.

Went wheeling this past weekend, the puddle looked about as deep as the others we had been going through, turned out it wasn't ha. Going to dig into it more today now that I'm home as well as rip out my interior and clean it up

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Lol... Yellow tops are fine. I'm running 2 now. I've run them in just about every vehicle I've ever owned. Which is just about this many.

I've run Yellow tops for the purposes we use them on off road trucks, and I've used them to power 2-3000 watt stereo systems as well. The only problem I've ever seen was due to an improperly installed system, in a friends truck (solenoid to the second battery was wired to constant power, so it was always open).

They used to be the only choices You'll get the bullshit stories about how their quality went down when they moved to Mexico. Actually, the stories began when other options became available... and people jumped on the latest, greatest, newest, betterest brand. As soon as someone comes out with a "cooler" option to NorthStar... they will be labeled shit too.

I especially love hearing 2nd and 3rd Genners talk shit about Optima being made in Mexico... considering their entire truck likely came from Mexico.

Installed a new Wix fuel filter. Was inspired to cut the old one apart because of this Chrisfix fuel filter video: https://youtu.be/92TfTQTmuq4?t=329

Would have spent the extra $25 for the OEM Denso part if I knew it came with a shiny new bracket. Replaced the 10mm bolt with a new stainless one at least.

Actually not so much. As of 2016, 40% of Tacomas were built in Mexico. And as of 2017 (factory expansion) 50% of the rest of Tacomas (That other 60%) are being built in Mexico

Anyone know how to tell 100 percent if the water pump is shot.
    3.4

I had a complete timing belt and water pump etc done 20,000 miles ago 9 months ago.

I run a 170 stat and my temperatures are always at 175-180.

Engine was running hot at 185-190 so Bought another stat and temperature are at 179 then this morning they went up to 185 at idle with outside temps at 20 degrees which is hot for my setup.

The radiator is new, I put another new stat in this morning with same results getting hot at 185.

I have new radiator hoses top and bottom and new antifreeze.

So I looked at the radiator fluid with the cap off and there is no water movement at 185 degrees with
    the 170 stat.
Top radiator hose is hot the bottom hose is cold,
At highway the temps go up.
Turned the ac on and temperature went down 2 degrees
Heater on temps went down 2 degrees

When the cap is on the the radiator for 10 minutes the upper radiator hose is hard as hell and you can’t squeeze it from pressure build it...

Is this a bad water pump?

The pump is only 9 months old OEM.

Are the fins not part of the shaft or could they have slipped some how?
How does a newer water pump go bad.

    Antifreeze is perfectly clean.

If it’s the water pump it’s covered by the warranty and the work too
But I’ve never heard of a newer water pump going bad that’s OEM that less then a year old and not leaking

Did you open up the system at all since the radiator went in? No coolant moving through the system? Opened the radiator petcock to see if fluid drains out? I mean it should obviously, just thinking out loud. Any way the radiator is plugging up? Weird man

The upper hose gets hard as hell because it's hella pressurized from the water pump. I think you're plugged somewhere

Have truck running and at temp and have coolant going through heater core for heat and pull the heater core hose a little and see if coolant can circulate there

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Maybe... have you tried flushing the heater core separately? I'm wondering if it may be clogged. You would be able to tell by flushing it by it's self.
    Just throwing thoughts out there.

I did just about everything, and used almost all of 72 sqft. Think I had one sheet left plus some scraps.

Also bought some closed cell foam and covered a lot of it, but don't remember how much I bought.

I lined my doors and rear speaker area and used about ~24 sq ft of Noico 80mil. I bought one 36sqft pack and had enough left over to line the trunk of my Honda. I didn't notice much a difference in the rear, but the doors close with a satisfying thud now.
