    Hello All,

I’m currently looking at trading in a 2nd gen DC for a tacoma TRD Pro in army green but wanted to pose a few questions to the tacoma experts first?

    1. they say there is no budging in the sticker price at all and are selling it to me for the sticker price. Is this common? Anyone else get any money off?

    2. if I do it what packages should I go with? Extended warranty or paint protection any of those things?

    3. Obviously there is going to be som loss on buying new vs used but what types of losses is everyone seeing when driving off the lot if your paying sticker?

    thanks in advance!!

for a TRD Pro with the new army green i'd be surprised if you could get anything off MSRP. Depending on location a lot of places will try to sell above MSRP
I think if you want the color & pro model and can get it for MSRP that would be a "good" deal

I ordered mine at MSRP. I didn't even try to negotiate because its a fair price. The AG Pro is in high demand, which means many dealers are asking thousands above MSRP. I'm surprised that you even found one sitting on the lot. It will be gone very quickly.

Your buying the most desirable Tacoma model in the most desirable color. Getting a deal on a 2020 Pro in AG this early on will be a challenge. Some buyers are amazing negotiators and are born salesman. Some buying tactics may work such as bringing your checkbook to show you are ready to buy today, waiting until the last day of the month when dealers are hungry to meet sales quotas, etc.

Waiting until next year will result in some negotiation room with dealerships. If you really want a deal on a AG Pro wait until this time next year when the 2021 models are out.

Most who are pragmatic on here would say that getting it at MSRP is getting a good deal on something that is limited and so new like the AG Pro. It's all relative and if it makes you feel any better dealers around me are marking up the new Pro's 7-10k without even batting an eyelash.

Regarding paint protection I got full front PPF after purchase and think its superior to anything the dealership could offer up.

Extended warranties are a money maker for the dealership and as such are not a good value especially with a truck as reliable as a Tacoma.

For paint protection buy a bottle of Meguires Ceramic Hybrid Wax and spray it on once every month or 2 or 3 after washing the truck. And this stuff does more than paint protection as it can be sprayed on plastic, glass, chrome, rubber. Mothers and Turtle Wax make a similar product.

Sorry. I got $2,000 off sticker. They said it was a mistake because they had it advertised as a TRD OR and they typically don't give discounts on TRD Pro's. The car was not ordered, i found it sitting in stock.
    Hope this is more helpful.

Thanks everyone for the info! I think I will odd on the warranties and add on packages! They would not budge on the msrp because they said they are so hard to get. Either way I hope I’m in store for years of trouble free miles!

Got out pretty much at MSRP. Salesman flat out told me there was no negotiating, even on things like “document fee”, but mine is a 6MT, too. Said “no” to all extended warrantees, extra maintenance, tires, etc. Mine also has the PPF - so good I didn’t even know it was there until I had it for 4 days, covers the lower green bumper around the grill to the fenders, not the hood, and I have the door edge protection as well. I’ve never paid this much for any car, and this is the only time I’ve not gotten any deal below MSRP, and I couldn’t be happier with it. As stated before, this early in the release, dealers are treating the AG like they are impossible to get even though they seem to be trickling out a bit more. So if you want it, expect to pay unless you find a unique dealer, or wait until mid-2020, I’m guessing.

All cars lose off the lot. Tacoma will likely lose less than most - overall Tacoma is that it has lowest depreciation at 32% over 5 years (recent study I saw cited in Youtube vid).

There are some rare exceptions, but cars and trucks are a depreciating asset (dah).

RV’s are the worst. I laugh when I see a motor home with new tags on the road. These things drop like a stone the second you leave the RV dealer. It’s one vehicle I would NEVER purchase brand new.

I got a $1000 off MSRP on mine. If you wait until April or May you should be able to get $1500 off MSRP. Or better yet, wait until this time next year and you can find one for about $3000 off MSRP or even more.

Yeah - like any of us knuckleheads who have them wanted to wait! :rofl:I had trouble waiting the month that I did! It certainly is good advice, but it wasn’t happening for me. You got a great deal, but that wasn’t available here for what I wanted and, frankly, I was okay with that. It all has to do with availability of what you want, what you are willing to pay, and how anxious you are. For me personally, if I’m going to spend this much, I’m darned sure that I’m getting what I want!

I heard you. I wanted the MT but my guy said it could be six months or more. Switched to the At and picked her up on Saturday.

Still do want a MT. May see what is out there this time next year.

Sounds like dealer talk to me. Don't walk away, run away from a "deal" like that.

I got mine at MSRP and am happy with it. Just set a price you are willing to pay and go for it. I wouldn’t worry about what others are getting or not getting. At the end of the day, you have to be happy with it. I love my truck.
