What exactly do the straps do?

Limit suspension down travel to whatever you decide to adjust them too

 

Are the pro floor mats carpet or hard surface?

 

They limit the suspension from overextending. This helps prevent CV boots from tearing, axles from breaking, shocks from topping out, etc.

 

Gee, I wonder who could benefit from this. Oh yeah, wasn't @CedarPark having issues with breaking CV axles?

 

I have a set for myself too dw ended up with a spare from Low Range
