Oh yeah. Worst part was I was in the section of 40 where there wasn't really a good place to pull off the road for a while.

Glad you made it back okay! Came out with a cool story to tell, at least. Haha.

Google said something about a disabled vehicle, then we figured out it was construction. Almost decided to go wheeling on the FSR near Fine's Creek as a bypass. There was a turnoff right where the backup started. Next time.

It's a hole in the guardrail, pretty much. Never explored it -- yet.

Yeah, you might even be able to get to Hurricane Creek that way, but not sure. WNC crew probably does.

I'll ask the resident backwoods expert @Dangerdave he tends to know more about that area than the WNC guys since he was a guide out there.

Guy is flaking on tomorrow already. Cant go anytime this week other than tomorrow. Probably just going to wait for black friday Dakars now. The price difference is minimal with a progressive AAL at full price. Figured I'd let you know I'm not getting them. 100$ is a damn good deal for all that too.

That was one I had the dealer put in 2 years ago. It failed because I had to hammer on it pretty good to get it out of my old spindle and into my new one. ~40k miles. A bunch of miles offroad and trips. I wasn't easy on it that's for sure.

So that’s access to an area I have done the least amount of exploring. If you’re talking about that road that crosses under the interstate and heads to the western side of 40 near Waterville lake.

that area is called twelve mile and it’s got some awesome trails out there. Found an old still site one time. Better access to that area is at the Harmon den exit then head away from Harmon den. Just keep in mind that if you don’t hit the bridge across the pigeon at a low water level, there’s no crossing it. Makes getting in and out kinda sketch.

Gotcha. Just bought this truck but the bearings are loud, no play, but I knew it when I got it 150k on stock seems reasonable. Lol plus a guy on hear sells full hubs cheap as hell.

That a parts store has a prebuilt hub bearing for these trucks now is good, it wasn’t that long ago you had to buy the parts and press it yourself or buy someone’s aftermarket assembly at a lead time of usually a few days if not weeks

the price is decent as well, I paid $500 for my pair fully assembled a few years ago (PreRunner) from a vendor here on the board, took 2 weeks for them to arrive, fortunately I didn’t have to rely on my junk as a DD and that was ok.
I find it amusing that now the 4wd hub is more expensive than the PreRunner hub.....
