What do you mean by slightly modified?

 

Its a cookie cutter (obviously) but it appears to have a blunt cutting edge. Any way to taper the cutting edge? Doesnt have to be sharp, but more knife-like would be preferable. I think I could live with it if it cant be done.

EDIT Of course, I dont know from the simple image just exactly how thick the cutting 'walls' are so maybe it doesnt even need that??

 

For cookie cutting it probably doesn't need it, the more of an edge you try to put on it the more fragile the print will be also. I'll try printing one, if it comes out well you can have it if you cover shipping

@Cuffs this would definitely last longer than a 3d printed one and could also be washed in the dishwasher.

 

Ive seen a number of arrowhead shapes since I started this search. Thats what led me to find the 3D variety.

This is a special one. Its a perfect replica of the National Park Service arrowhead. (note the scalloped edges, offset and asymetric shoulders) Which is what I need... Even if it doesnt work out in the long run, I'd like to give it a go. I may have to fall back to a metal, generic cutter...

 

How big do you need this thing? Maybe 4" on the long end?

 

So, I drew this up at 4" with a 1.9mm cut edge BUT the software is having some major trouble "sharpening" (chamfering) that edge because it's so complicated. I'll admit I'm not skilled/knowledgeable enough to work around it yet, but I'll keep digging just for my own curiosity. If anybody wants to tinker with it, just holler and I'll send it to ya.

 

i dig it man! tbis is why I asked for others to help. I’m sure the near info curve is huge for these things and I’m probably not interested enough to Spend the time. I wholly admire those that do!!

 

What program did you use to draw this in?
You could do a sketch with the edge scaled inwards/or outwards, which ever way you want to go, then do another scaled outline about 1.5 times f
Out side of the edge. The do an extrude/cut with a taper.

Maybe soften some of the corners and sharper edges and it might let you put a chamfer on it. It is a cookie cutter after all...

 

I imported a vector into fusion 360 for it. I suppose I could try to edit the vector first to smooth some of it out, but I've run into the issue before with them being too complicated to chamfer or loft and still haven't found a way around it ... still just above my pay grade it seems, LOL

Edit: maybe I should just go old-school and print this bad boy out as is, then sand it down! The inside edge is all that matters for the cookie shape, right!?

 

I have an idea that might work better. Print it solid on the 3D printer then use it as a template to wrap/hammer a sheet of stainless around the shape. Then solder it as one piece. You could even use the cookie cutter from Amazon then beat it into the shape you want.

 

Not sure my printer will print large enough. But a cool story none the less

I probably should have asked if you still needed this designed before I spent the last few hours getting it cleaned up but what else is a guy to do when he's not supposed to leave the house, right?





It's 4" x 3" x 3/4" and looks like it would take about 3 hours to print.
