Gents, I've done some research already but would really like some of y'alls experience here. Just bought some bare metal sliders and not interested in powder coat... curious what everyone has used for paint.



Good ole rustoleum is my first bet, but appreciate any warnings y'all may have before I start rattle canning away.. TIA

 

That is what i used on mine. And it makes it easier to come back later and touch them up once they have been used.

 

Metal Tech 4x4 has a good tutorial on prepping sliders for paint. After its prepped a good primer can be applied. I like rustoleum truck bed liner spray for texture. I've found that another layer of you favorite color paint over that works very well to resist fade. Apply multiple light coats.

 

Can't imagine bed liner having any impact on the ability to slide on rocks, right? I'll take a look at that tutorial thanks bud

 

Pick a color that is easy to match for touch ups. The top of your sliders will actually see more abuse than the bottom (entry and exit). Grip tape over the paint works well. Do decent prep and any paint should work. I like to heat my cans in a jar of hot water, just as hot as the tap gets, boiling hot is too much. It prevents sputtering and lays down smoother.

 

I'm in the process of prepping some sliders. Top and outer parts I'm costing with truck bed liner, bottom and inside parts will be normal paint. Really no need to texture the bottom, but any part that you can see will be textured.
