I see rolling Ka band radar pretty regularly in rural north Georgia once I get off the Interstates. Occasionally a rural sheriff deputy running radar trap, again typically not on the interstates. LEO can sit there doing paperwork until the radar alerts to a speed over the threshhold.

Lots of laser in the ATL metro area though.

To travel that far and strike the building that high, velocity was likely quite impressive.

This reminds of a story on the BMW M5 forums where a young guy got hold of his dad's M5 and was wanting to "test it out" on an airstrip.

He kept bragging about what a good driver he was and how he wasn't stupid, then he stopped posting.

Several users were asking for a response when the news came out that a young man and 4 friends were killed in an M5 when their car ran off an airstrip.

    It was him.

    Edit: HERE is the thread.

I know what an idiot I was at that age, and I can only guess that parents who let their inexperienced drivers get behind the wheel of a high-powered vehicle either don't like them very much or have a big insurance policy on them.

I know the usual "My child is very responsible and I trust them fully" response.

Responsibility tends to wither a bit when no authority is around and you are face to face with either:

    A: Lots of horsepower

B: Friends that are goading you on to do something stupid

C: Naked girl who is ready for fun

D: Thoughts that using A will impress girl and lead to C.

Reminds me of a story here from a few years ago. Guy gives his son a Ferrari F430 as an 18th birthday present.

Week later the kid crashes the car at 4am one night, crawls out of the burning car, but dies a few days later.

Why the hell is the person taking the video not down there to stop the kid? Maybe because they thought leaving a crawler in a room with an open stairway would make for a cute YouTube video?

But the image is moving around and zooming, like a hand-held camera.

Yes, it is a hand held camera.

of the video on a monitor, presumable they're playing back the footage from a security / nanny cam

    Holy fucking shit!!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

That must have been one hell of a flight!!!

Wonder if they served drinks and a movie with it :notsure: I mean really? That has to be 75-100 yards from that second curb to the building where they ended up, not to mention, they landed in the second damn floor!!!!

Jesus, dumb sons of bitches, but like @se7enine said, they went with their boots on!!! Now I really wish there was video. Like the flying taco or that camaro or vette :notsure: vs bridge abutment

So you're thinking that someone is playing video recorded by a nanny cam, and using a hand-held camera to record THAT screen? That WOULD be a "WTF!"

    FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) —
A motorcyclist has died after falling about 90 feet from a Fort Worth bridge Saturday night.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Nov. 9, police received a call that a motorcyclist had wrecked into a wall on the ramp from northbound I-35 to westbound I-20.

The caller reported that the occupant of the motorcycle had gone over the bridge.

When officers arrived, they found the motorcycle on the ramp and located a woman under the bridge, approximately 90 feet below.

The woman — whose identity has not been released — was pronounced dead at the scene.

    This is an ongoing investigation.

I've had so many dreams where I've crashed and fallen off a cliff and would have died had it not been a dream. It's the weirdest feeling when you free fall from really high up. Even in my dream I have my life flash before my eyes.

Look at the right edge of the video, as well as the bottom -- you're seeing the files list and controls of some sort of security camera system console window (aka a NVR)

While the ideal thing would be to simply export the stored video clip in a postable format and post that directly...

... yet the reality is that even something that simple tends to be beyond the grasp of a substantial portion of humanity...

I think you about got it. Somewhere just past halfway between those two telephone poles, good job.

I wonder what the state police speed estimate is. They are remarkably accurate.
