    OP updated.

At this time, I have the two adapters I wanted for myself and no one has made a firm commitment so I am not planning on having any more adapters made unless I can get at least 3 more people to actually commit and get a group buy together. I asked the shop for a few months to find some buyers now that I have a prototype that works in my truck. I am already $2100 into this for the 2 adapters I had made. I want to help people out but at this point it seems senseless for me to lay out another $900 for the last 3 and be stuck with parts I cant sell in the event marlin gets their shit together and does it cheaper.

I know it's hard to commit $600 to a part when you dont have the tacobox in hand, and marlin says they are working on it. If you guys want these at $600 each then i need 3 of you to commit. While there are some modifications needed from the original design (refer to my OP) the part has been tested it works. If you want to do this and dont want to wait on Marlin...here is the solution.

Cheers to you for actually following through and developing a solution!

Can't wait to see it perform on the trail!

I am really glad I followed through too. It was a daunting task sitting at the other end, but knowing that other people have put these things in manuals before, I just wasn't satisfied with the response I got from Marlin and wanted to prove that it's not that hard. It was just stupid expensive. I spent as much on two adapters as I spent on the damn crawl box. Call me crazy, but it was worth every single penny and I have zero regrets.

Marlin refuses to acknowledge the RA60. Won’t do a short shifter for it like other transmissions. Won’t do a crawl box for it.

For some reason I thought they made a short shifter for us but now as I am looking at their website I see that they make them for just about every manual transmission prior to the 2nd gens. Everything is of course out of stock because it's Marlin. It's insane that they don't support the newer manual trans toyotas considering how many of them there are out there and the platform is obviously not going away for awhile.

At least on short shifters you have URD and hurst as an option. I'd really like a short throw option for the crawlbox and the tcase that works with my triple stick setup. I honestly don't think they would be that hard to make now that I have my confidence up working with a machine shop. Not high on my priority list right now though.

yeah I got the one from URD, but I do like marlins solution with there’s. Replace the whole thing and not do an add on. Just makes no sense they refuse to support the 6spd

3rd gen uses the rc62f for the 4wd. Pretty sure it’s mostly the same with different gearing.

My understanding was that the RC62F was the same spline pattern as the RA60F, but I don't have 100% confirmation on that. Marlin says it's a 19 spline like the RA60F so there's a good chance that it is in fact a 22 spline. I'm not sure if anyone has done an FJ tcase swap on a manual trans 3rd gen (or if it's even possible) but maybe we can find someone on the forum that might be able to confirm.

Well that was easy...it's definitely a female output on the RC62F and it's the same process of swapping inputs as it is on the 2nd gens.

Amazing effort and work on getting the taco box to work on a 6 speed. I’m in for a spline adapter, just waiting for marlin crawler to get the built unit in stock.

    This is good news guys!

    A few things to clarify...

I don't have the oil seal housing and never had them finalize a design. I only ever took measurements for it and got the quote. You would be the Guinea pig... but it was measured off an original inchworm oil seal housing. You could also try going to marlin for that to see if they a) have any in stock and b) would be willing to sell it separate. They gave me a hard time about it when I asked last year.

On the spline adapters, I only wound up having two adapters made. I have one in my truck and my one spare adapter that I still need to bring back to the machine shop to have it professionally modified and update the design. I have been dragging my feet since I didnt have any commitments from folks, and I didnt want to shell out more money for these things without committed buyers. They gave me till February to get 3 more buyers and they would honor the $600 price. If 2 people make a commitment to me, then financially it makes sense that I will have 3 made and sit on the last one.

I'll get my ass over to the shop this week to finalize the updated design, and ask them how long to produce the last 3.

You would make 2 of 3 then, at $600. With 3 more maybes on the list:

    3. @hoverlover
    4. @6 gearT444E
    5. @JustDSM

Checking in with you three. Except @6 gearT444E who wanted a spare, I think you guys are waiting on crawlboxes. @hoverlover I recall you said you're on the waitlist but havent heard anything recently.

If you want in on this batch of spline adapters at $600, it looks like I have enough folks interested that the first 4 of the first 5 are spoken for.

Edit: I misread your post. Corrected above.

Dropped the updated drawing off at the shop. They are going to officially draw up the oil seal housing this week. It will take about 6-8 weeks to machine parts once I give them the green light.
