Premium stereo upgrade complete

I finally completed my entune basic to entune premium upgrade. Had to buy two antennas and a bezel. I think it looks seamless.

 

250 for new stereo on eBay, and another 250 for the bezel and the GPS antenna and XM antenna.
I was going to buy Kenwood but I wanted everything to look seamless and factory.

 

Any programming? I have a 2016 SR5 with Entune plus and also wanted to do this. Mine has Apps but not scout/GPS

 

No programming needed, but you do have to have the correct Vin to get apps, example, my stereo is a premium, but my truck is a sr. To get the apps I had to have the VIN from the other truck. There may be other ways I just haven't found them.

Grab a vin off a craigslist ad of the 3rd gen Tacoma should work

Update on programming, I downloaded the entune app and put in a third gen trd Vin#. It worked perfect. It updated and the stereo performs perfectly.

 

That’s not cool, that means that the person who buys the truck can’t use the stereo as intended, right?

 

I got the VIN from the original owner of the stereo, I would assume that people buy and sell cars everyday and the vins are used. My stereo was pulled less than a week after the guy bought a 2019. He volunteered his Vin#.

I'm hoping this means the 2020 carplay stereos will swap in. I already have entune premium in a 2018

 

I done this swap..for the cost of most mods we do to these trucks. I think this is probably the best one for the money for us guys that dont have the premium radios.. Not only does it give us access to additional features on the dash plus GPS.. It look sooooo much better than the other radios. It really changes the look and feel of the interior.

 

Did mine about a month ago best decision I made love the stock look and the premium is so much more clean looking then the sr5/sr unit.

 

Do you have the part numbers for the GPS and XM antenna?

 

Great swap. That was one of the things that held me back from getting an SR5.

I'm guessing it is only a matter of time before Toyota jacks up the price on that bezel 1000% and requires you to have a TRD Vin.

 

Unfortunately I do not but some of the members that replied in the thread said you could just pull it off any vehicle that comes with the upgraded version and it would work I never personally tried.
