i got a bench in mine too. someone on here liked his but didnt like the straight up feeling so someone else suggested he stack some washers under the front legs of the seat to let it lean back farther. he tried it and was happy with half an inch of washers. i tried it too and it did lean ya back alot better but it left a space under the leg which i wasnt fond of so ill think of something to eliminate that and do it again

I have a 2011 reg cab with bucket seats.... have you checked to see if these are available to replace your bench seats?

The main thing that I don't like about the bench seat is no armrest. I like to rest my right arm somewhere in between shifts. What have you guys done for a console or armrest in the center?

They sell armrests for bench seats. I've seen them at Pep Boys. Kinda ghetto but it's an armrest. Not like there are many options for having an armrest on a bench seat anyway.

+10000000000000 about sitting straight up. who at toyota thought it was a good idea to have no center console/arm rest and not to let the seat back recline at all. a truck should have a 60/40 bench seat with a flip down arm rest at least. and the god damn seat back should recline if only an inch or two. if it where not for the retarded seat in my regular cab this truck would be absolutley perfect.

yes there have been a few guys that have done this, its just a plug n play all the holes are there just gotta look for them under the carpet, i have been wanting to do this for some time now i too hate my bench with a passion, the only good thing about it is there is room for you and a girl to well you know hahaha

nope dont do it i have asked they quoted me $3000 a seat and no im not adding an extra 0 on accident, yes 3000 cuz they said it comes in pieces and they have to assemble it and it would be about 3000 so just find a wrecked taco or look for aftermarket seats

I actually made a fairly nice one to get me by, I used 5" thick upholstery foam and heavy canvas to make a 10"x12"x12" foam block that fits really well in the center. I just wish I had storage there, and something more permanent. I really would like one that I could mount a CB or HAM in, but havent found a aftermarket that seems like it would fit right.

Agreed much on the Bench seat but on this topic I can have some patience.

Got a few wreck yards I'm keeping in touch with and they'll do what they can to find what I need when I'm ready.

I'm glad I read this post. I have plenty of scrap materials just lying around. I'm building my own armrest with storage space inside. :D

The bench seat in the 2nd Gen are OK compared to the 1st Gen bench seat. My lower back was dying after short drive in regular cab 1st Gen.

I have gotten used to the bench, my back doesn't hurt and for the short drives I do its alright.

The only advantage of the bench is that it can seat 2adults and one child which doesnt need car seat...

I see swapping buckets from SR5 Taco as a waste of money, unless you get a killer deal...

I bought a universal arm rest from O Reilly’s and the height is perfect, it has cup holders, and even holds a few cds. I was worried about it sliding all around but it doesn’t. I am happy with it and couldn’t imagine driving without it.

Actually the bench seat in the 2nd gen isn't too bad for back support, I had a old 1989 gmc, and a 1969 C-10. The bench seats in them were only good for 2 things- Hurting my back, and putting girlfriends onto their backs...

And actually, our bench seat can fit 3 adults, it's only a bit cozy, and shifting gears is awkward for whoever is in the middle. I've made several trips over 100 miles with 3 adults up front.

Mine is pretty ghetto, and people always ask what the hell it is, but it does the job. I just spray glued two 12x12 sheets of the foam together to make a cube shape, and then had a guy that works with heavy fabrics cover it with heavy duty canvas.

    Edit:
I've been looking at these for awhile, trying to figure out if I could make it work if it was sitting on top of that little seat, some how attaching it to the seat via straps or something else instead of bolting it to the floor.

    - I had the same exact problem with my 5 lug with a bench seat (Auto). I bought a center armrest/console off of Amazon. It is a Wolf 38601000 Deluxe Bench Console. It fits perfectly in the middle of the bench with plenty of armrest space me my passenger and I.

I would put a picture up.. but I am new and have no clue how to do it.

I would love to see a pic. Please!

You need to save the image on your computer, then upload it to a file sharing website like imageshack.com or photobucket.com, and then that website will give you an image code that you copy and paste on here. It's basically just [ IMG] www... [ /IMG ] withought any spaces in it.
