What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

They just called and said they have NO idea why it’s running hot and they have to think about this over night, GRRRR, he said it’s staying at 195 degrees at idle and it’s 40 degrees here.
Hell the engine hasn’t run at 195 even when it’s 100 degrees outside for at least 3 years now.
I’m telling you it has to be the water pump! I can’t think of anything else.
He said it’s not the heater core but now I’m worried about how much this master tech knows.

Alright. Im digging around and cant find it. Saw a high clearance custom made tube bumper on here somewhere. I want. It was all tube... ill be adding a swing arm for my 35 inch spare. It had 2 D rings. Double D's.....

@Spoonman @MichaelsTacoma ... I cant think of anybody else? I checked their build thread but i cant locate it. Help!!!

 

You know how techs are always proud and no customer can show them or teach em something new yada yada? In that light, it might be worth mentioning to that master tech,
'Hey master tech dude, I know you're the man and you've always been the man, but can you do a favor for me? A couple Tacoma buddies think the coolant might be getting pressurized from the cylinder combustion. Would you eliminate that possibility by testing coolant for exhaust gasses? I just gotta shut these two friends up, thanks man I appreciate it.'
Something like that tell the tech personally yourself. I would at least.

that i will now have to 'bastardize' my truck at some non-Toyota shop that referred to it as an F-150 today

If someone can plug a supply 220 twist lock plug into a receiving 115 twist lock outlet on equipment.
Then I firmly believe the thermostat can be in backwards.

So my side wall was pierced over the weekend by a rock, Rear passenger tire is Now replaced. I decided I need a full size spare asap because this time I got lucky, the pierced tire still held air and I was able to drive out of the trail and home. I have a full size Cooper ST MAXX in the garage now. I have a matching Procomp wheel on the way. Will be here Friday. My buddy will mount it and balance it next week. Fully focused on how to get it mounted on my truck. Going to call a local metal shop tomorrow to see what they would charge for the fab work and for what price. But I’m also really hoping 4xinnovation does a good black Friday sale so I can buy the swing out from them and weld it on to my rear bumper. The tire won’t fit in the stock location.

Not today but I finally got the LCA bushing sleeves out after realizing that they were going to be a PITA (if not impossible) to do in the shop press.


And then I realized I’ll either have to get another new Nitro Charger shock or replace the bushing on it.

 

Eh I sleep in the back of my truck, some times in snowy cold weather. I like it being sealed up with my camper shell and tailgate
