Silly question- Why are you reading what looks like 2 psi and 15.5 AFR at idle? Did you take this pic as you were taking off the line? Sounds dangerous....

 

Well, if you find them let me know, but I'm not in a rush. I guess now that I cleaned up the wire harness it won't be too painful to take out the gauges to swap rings, but I don't really want to think about it yet lol. PCS moves nearly guarantee at least 5% breakage, but maybe they made the cut...

 

i have all aem x-series. and... a meth gauge displaying boost. ive always wondered why my aem #s were low. compared to my meth boost gauge, and others here that had similar setups at similar elevation. your data has proved my theroy one step farther! thanks. i do like my aem gauges. but on more than one level the boost gauge has proven to be inaccurate.

 

I have all AEM as well (not the x series though) and my AEM also consistently reads about a pound of boost lower than my snow gauge

Agreed, i am kinda leaning towards the snow being more accurate. Its impressive how accurate the controller is with the water meth injection, so im guessing the boost sensor in that thing is very good quality. Seems like to me there would be more of a chance the sensor provided with the AEM gauges would be of lower quality to cut costs.

 

Uh Oh. Have I started a revolution?! Let's do it. DOWN WITH THE INACCURATE SENDING UNITS NOT RE-CALIBRATING TO ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE!!!. We need to work on that.

Pretty sure this was just on and not running. it was taken years ago and I snagged it from my build. my afr and boost readings are good. especially now.

 

I think I’m gonna sell my aem true boost gauge and get another wide band so I can monitor both banks. Meth kit has boost gauge built in and seems more accurate anyways.

 

WE have worked on that. including your data. AEM needs to work on selling accurate measuring devices. with a side by side viewing from a mechanical gauge and us with valid info possibly changes could be made. or they could go the way of urd and i/we shop elsewhere.

 

my thoughts too. ill probably get a fuel pressure gauge. maybe oil. i dunno.

 

Seems like a simple fix to me. Just use sending units that adjust to the conditions. They're obviously out there, Speedhut uses them....but whatevs. I'm not an engineer; I agree with you though, if you don't cater to your very large customer base, they will go away.

 

if anything, it would be fantastic to make their gauges more accutate if possible. to help those that already have them.

 

Thought about an oil pressure gauge but it’d be kinda a pain to get the temp sensor in

 

how so my bro? sandwich plate at the oil filter. super simple.

Ya I already have aem fuel pressure gauge.

 

why? @Torspd runs one if im remembering correctly. its just a spacer plate with fittings for sensors. easy.
