    I love Texas & just about everything about it. I've been ALL over the state, multiple time. Midland/Odessa area, not on my list of places to ever visit. I dread going thru that area on the way to/from Big Bend. It's just so bland. I can see the next week coming it's so flat.

    That's the whole point, next week can't slip up on ya. I love the open rolling country out here. Like you I've traveled all over Texas rodeoing in my younger years and feel closterfobic when amongst the forested areas of the state.. The Big Bend is killer, me and the BOSS light out for it every chance we get.

    I drive a Miata.
    Ive had multiple coworkers attempt it. Its a very boom-bust area. One year the cost of living is so high, and so many people are rushing in that you can't even find a trailer within a 500 mile radius. The next year people are selling their half-million dollar homes for nothing. If you manage to find housing and not be upside down on the rent, its great place to get rich. Not many people manage to do that, though.
