By the release and time of availability of the TT kit, I’ll have or be close to 150k miles... I’d hate to damage the engine/trans due to the unknown cost associated with replacement but I’d like to do this just because it’s an itch that needs scratched.

Get a Magnusson with their power train warranty so when your engine goes kaboom you have a warranty

I find it unlikely that these warranty claims will have high success. So many ways for companies to wiggle out of these claims. I just watch the movie RainMaker. Insurance and warranties are pretty much scams without specific evidence. Simply stating that you used your vehicle in extreme conditions, for example, is a common Toyota claim to get out of warranty work.

I like the option of the rotex because for me.... it looks easier to replace that separate element than tinkering with anything directly bolted to the engine. easier the convert back to NA if you ever needed to.

I thought the engine still had to be under original warranty for the Magnuson warranty to be be in effect?

No, it's a different Toyota product we have, unrelated to Tacoma specifically.

I like OVTs air to water intercooler system vs URDs rotrex setup. More efficient and better use of space. Looking forward to seeing centrifugal power band numbers. I know turbos will maximize this engine but really curious what the blowers can do.

    That’s good to know. I would’ve guessed $5k+.

Mileage of your truck shouldn't be the determining factor. Should be how well did you keep up with maintenance.

Anyways we have both turbo fitted up top now, nicely and without cutting anything.
The K04s don't fit so we have modified billet K03S. Expecting to wrap it up in the next few weeks hopefully.

...help a newbie understand how much a SC taxes an engine.

If I pick up a Rotrex, and don’t drive my truck like a race car, should I expect the engine to not last as long as if it was NA?

It shouldnt affect the longevity of the engine as long as its tuned correctly. If anything it add extra elements to the engine that can possibly fail... need maintaining etc.

Thanks for the response. Gonna go this route when it’s available. My needs don’t justify a turbo.

Mat, what kind of maintenance are you referring too? I know you mentioned changing the oil more often, like every 5k instead of 10k. Are there other components of a TT / SC setup that require more frequent care/maintenance (ie Coolant flush Air Filter, etc)?

Never had a FI vehicle and am seriously considering one of these.

    Cheers!
